I also fixed the mirror but someone lent on it and it fell off again. I'll go grab some fiberglass stuff and do it properly and re-paint it Guards rub with more than one person. Might go get some new tires next week. and get the ugly tucked in fronts sorted out. Gutted I didn't get my brakes off the Piazza before it got taken away.

piazza brakes actually have less offset than chevette fronts, so I'm guessing that geminis would be the same aswell.
could try some 25mm bolt on spacers or something?

I have some spacers I got with my old Chevette. not bolt on ones though they just sit in there behind the wheel. I'm thinking long studs + spacers isn't a good idea? Might look into these bolt on ones.
175 or 185? hmmm

I was looking on trademe at bolt on spacers and apparently they are supposed to be 20mm or less and hubcentric to be legal. Not sure about the hubcentric thing actually but it just looked like they were in the pic.
Just something to keep in mind if you do end up picking some up.
PS I have some 4x98 to 4x100 ones you can have I think, but they probably won't be much use to you.

Hmmm, are the non bolt on spacers legal at all? I don't think I've ever seen a hubcentric spacer in my life, I always thought they'd make the middle slightly bigger to suit all makes etc?
I have some non-bolt on types but probably not enough spacer there to get the proper offset I want, would have to re-stud hubs aswell. I might go measure to see how much I actually need.
Might price up some 175/50's this week, I think 185 in the rear isn't going to stretch enough to stop guard rub.

What you guys reckon about an externally mounted oil cooler? I bought one anyway but might mock it up on the bumper to see what ya all think.

Sweet cheers, just been checking out lvvt and it does say 20mm. Could probably get away with normal ones at most of the wof places here but I'd rather have safe nuts, especially if it means my wheels could fall off! Should be an update within the fortnight

Been doing a few bits on the old g200 from the coupe. After work at night I've been doing a bit of porting and did a whole day today as I had the day off. Probably 8 hours spent so far with probably 4-5 hours left to go. I forgot to get some pics of the original inlet, but heres one of the exhaust port. these were disgusting! Pictures really don't show how ugly they are. The valve seat is pretty much a sharp 90deg bend to the port runner with a massive protrusion on the short side? Unfortunately the longer wall can't be made straight as it will probably blow into where the head stud runs through but I managed to get them ok. Anyway.. went nuts with carbide bit, forgot to get pics when I'd stoned them and head is now gone to get oversize valves put in. Few of the inlet pretty much finished, will need to re-do the bowls when new valves are in though. 150g hand finish, this took ages  Took the head up to machinist today and will take block up tomorrow. I'm getting 2mm oversize valves put in, one of which (ex) is a direct replacement as far as I'm aware (4zd1 rodeo) and told him I've heard of ecotec v6 inlets cut to size being used. We'll see what he comes up with. Also getting both block and head skimmed as it keeps blowing between 3-4 dropping compression to around 90 in both. Head gasket looks as though it may be blowing between 1-2 aswell so it should fix that. Also getting original flywheel lightened and new head set ordered. Also decided I'd install a stereo since its a daily driver for long journeys with friends etc, meh. edit: It appears the valves have hit pistons at some stage so will mock head up when done and see if they need flycuts. may have been put together out of time perhaps? also has .50 oversize pistons it seems.

Looking awesome man. I wonder what the results will be like.
I can't help but notice that this car is far from 1978 vintage lol. Plate/Tag change anyone?

Lost the dudes number now so can't get original tags off him I'm over it, but still sucks. Also, when I replaced the HG before trackday it went pretty fecking hard (well, for what I was expecting from a g200. me and my mate were quite surprised) Shame it blew again 5 minutes later. Should be sweet for a fun daily anyway with that all fixed up and be a bit more spirited with the flywheel and a far better port job/valves

Ok.. so I found an actual 78 to put my plates on/swap everything into. It's a shame this car has gone de-reg as it has had only 2 owners. Some guy's got it off an old couple and tried putting a v8 in it.. then sold it again and someone tried putting a twincam in it and painted nuts pink and so on.. Under all the pinky goodness it's extremely well looked after, a few shopping trolley dents and quite rust free from my quick inspection. They bashed the heater pipes on the firewall flat, probably to fit the v8 in, but that's an easy fix. Luckily they didn't chop nuts up in here.. I also put the new engine into the TE a few weeks ago. The plan is to do a full panel and paint on the TX similar to the colour shown below, then swap all my bits over from the TE.
