i love this car. i think you should get airfilter lol. Having pulled apart a couple of lawnmower engines that were running un filtered air i wouldn't recomend it altho i guess a car wont suck in as much crap as a lawnmower does. Just dont drive on gravel roads in the summer or in dry and dusty padocks ;D

will chuck some socks on, have kept away from gravel roads and seeing it was bottoming out on the puddles along my driveway I think paddocks are quite out of the question anyways! It is out in Glenfield at the mo, getting gem tank modded and fitted with Vectra pump Brad supplied, fairly simple task btw brad, pump not quite as perfect as I had thought though, should be pretty good still though just not going to be able to have the pick up falt on the bottom of tank is all. Chevini and Green Gem are here at the moment... www.alsmufflers.co.nz/ seems they may still be there until tomorrow arvo...

In the end chopped middle out of gem tank flange and have made up a rubber gasket and just bolting vectra flange to gem flange.... had to go buy expensive fuel resistant sealant as a precaution. Will chuck pics up later if I remember. (this will all likely only make sense to brad)

Wheres the discussion thread for this on OS? You should bump my old discussion if theres not a new one, because I couldn't find it.
Anyway, FU*KING AWESOME!!!
Is it running much better with the tune? I'm stoked with that power output. Over 100kw at the wheels is nothing to be sneezed at, especially in such a light car. Plus remember, that motor is essentially standard so a set of cams would REALLY open her up. I'd expect at least another 30bhp on top, but obviously a bit of a loss down low.
I mean, you can see the power drop off at only 6krpm and that engine will rev to 7500rpm safely - it has a rebuilt bottom end with better rod bolts. If you wanted to, cams would shift the power band then you could bump the rev limit up to take advantage of this.
But yeah, good work man. I'm stoked for you.
Oh and nice price on the paint.

churr google showed a post from OS about 5down the page... Robinson Instruments... will have to take some measurements obtain sample of chuvit end (hopefully Getrag end will be common?)
Oh and yeah goes much better, way smoother acceleration etc. Only bummer was dude reckons rings are glazed from over fuelling, little bit of blue smoke which does blow through after a few pumps on the throttle... dunno if there are additives to help here?
Anyway nice driving it without backfiring heaps, hardest part is not flooring it everywhere! Would probably be quite economical if I could resist the urge... just love the sounds it makes (throttles/zorst/tyres heheh)

Thats not too good about the rings. I wonder if an oil change with perhaps an aditive might help there?
There is a Getrag cable already in it from memory, with some half ar'sed thing I rigged up to try and get the speedo working that you'll laugh at, so thats that side sorted. You only need to get a chevette dash end and get them connected, which I priced down here and was only about $80 or something like that.

Yup, Robinson are darned good - they can also modify the speedo to be acate, if you know how far out it is at a specific speed. Go past one of those things that tell you your speed at, say speedo 50kph and see what it says you're actually doing, eg 58kps, and they can adjust the internal spring and needle position to be accurate.
Glazed bores are sometimes cleaned up by giving the car a good thrashing - not that you need an excuse ...
IIRC, the Calibra, stock with restrictive stock exhaust and running VERY lean, had around 118hp at the wheels and would be around 130-135 if running correct mixture, so Brad did a darned good job with the basic setup, especially considering he was starting with around 14hp less!

had a bit of a booboo... took for a run down the backraods as I do and rolled the front left tyre of the bead.... was all like WTF and pulled over 100m down the road with car pulling hard to the left... Question for boe-rad is how hard is it gana be to re-seal.... tried giving it some air but wont push the bead back onto rim, just hisses straight out... Tyre shop job no doubt, hopefully I did no major damage to tyre- last thing I need when money is toight and Nats is approaching, no one wants to see this car minus the wide steels! Anyway could have been worse, had warmed her up for ages and rolled the bead on a corner under some hectic acceleration... thought something had dropped off in the suspension!
