you actually don't need a side window for a WOF, but that's a debate for another section

They are around, one of the Southern lads, I believe, recently had a coupe witten off and may have parts available. Some are infrequent visitors, so may have to do some chasing up yourself - have a look through the member's cars section, for example, and see who else has a coupe. You could also try the 'old school' (sp?) site as there are several owners also on there.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Contact Elky on OzGemini.com. He'll send you one from Aussie for not too much.

Hi there, Im TC, from Brazil, living in Pukekohe, South Auckland. I got a 1978 Chevette, Sedan, and trying to restore it. First idea was to drop a G200 but I came across a good deal on a rotary engine and i bought it. I will wait until Ive finished the panels and than decide what I will use in it. CANT MAKE MY MIND. Great site. Cheers

tc, sorry about the weather, then, hehe. There seems to have been a really active 'vette scene over there, must be quite boring down here, but that's partly because they're getting very rare now and most of us are poor, haha.
Four door, or one of the very elusive 2 door versions. 12A and 13B conversions have been done a few times and, apart from the horrible noise they make, they've been very successful. At one time or another, the Chevette has been fitted with a huge range of engines...

I quite use to here now gordo, chevette culture over there is massive, especially because car price over there use to be very high, so who had one, kept it for life. I have to say that i love the noise on rotary (dont hate me for that, hahaha), but I will stick with a G200 for now, easy for me. I am just a beginner around car engines. Cheers

This place reminds me of my mates AA meeting...
Hi I'm Carl and I have just brought a yellow wagon chevette from auckland. Living in Hamilton at the mo needed a cheap runner but now looking at an engine replacement. want more power so if anyone has any ideas please let me know the most user friendly bolt on, and bolt in to get this little yellow bee flying.
Thankyou.

Otherwise there's a g200 in an 86 rodeo at pickapart Hamilton at the moment. Will go in without too much trouble.

hi I'm Nathan. pretty much I'm nz's sluttiest forum sleeper. I recognise a few named here.
I have an 81 gem- really like it so far but it's sloooow. I have plans that I will work through slowly.
all criteria were met when purchasing the gem. it's pretty low, not entirely Japanese, relatively unusual and has a ton of performance potential.
it's the oldest project iv ever had but it's not so old that I feel I will lose the battle against rust.
mods so far incl fishnet seats.... and that's about it.

Hey guys, researching 4z stuff so I thought I'd join the forum. From Nsw Oz, sorry in advance. My tf is pretty much standard at the moment, g161 that goes thru more oil than the local fish and chip shop. Over heats regard less of the thermo fan, torque tube rubber is ratnuts, 4 speed is sticky and whines alot. Typical gem related nuts. Future plans are full 4zc1-t rebuild, Jap spec LSD rear disk setup [or altra9 kit], hoping i can make a fairly reliable daily. And patch up the nutsty body work, respray and apply the zz/r dress up kit Ive bought from Japan. Ive got a set of v4's that need new outer lips, so Ill have them widened as much as possible, before they get powder coated. As well as a set of dragways. [Just kidding, candy coat and add huge simmons before I drive it up the side of ularu, fair dinkun ulleh] At the moment Im happy to cruise around while I source more and more parts. Also, theres a chevenne [chevette?!] wagon about 40 mins from me [very uncommon in oz] that Ive been contemplating on getting as well. Just need to make the time to go look at it, from what Ive heard its not worth much and has a few layers of house paint on it, so who knows whats lurking under that. Keen on a rat wagon though. Any tips on rust hot spots and nasties to look out for is much appreciated.

Treat them the same as your Gemini rust wise,
Under battery tray, washer bottle - if they go there then check the front floor pans. Check to make sure the inner guards are there at the front, and if so, flick them out of the way to make sure the guard hasn't filled up with dirt/sand that becomes wet n causes rust on the lower part of the guards.
Welcome!
