just use a nissan pulsar one(45 bucks from pickapart). need to adapt the engine alt mount slightly but its a higher rated alt(70amp) & means u wont need the regulator. i have one in my g200 chevette

i agree internal regulated alts are far superior.
unfortunately i dont remember how the gem ones are wired off the top of my head

Would rather leave original in there for the time being, given I've got gilmers on it, so replacement alt would have to have same shaft dia...

i think pulsars are gilmers eh. i had to swap the pulley over to use it in my car

happy birthday to aninja, went under the radar on here went to his 21st on Saturday night (mass Gem mish out to Takaninipuna) even got to hold his spew bucket when he downed his yardie! (most disgusting of honors)

Chevette is running! Need to replace one frost plug, but all is going well! One dizzy was flogged out, explained why when I tried to get it going 1 & 2 werent sparking (didnt try 3 or 4) - thought that it wasnt getting power but was the reluctor basically shifted too far over one side.
Swapped over cam gears, and ignition module, fired up pretty much straight away. Absolutely stoaked!
