By comparing the pic's of similar angles I reckon chopping down the lip of the bonnet and into the guards will do it aye... Things that may complicate this will be if the spacing for mounting these headlamps is different or if in fact there is way more modification required than what I'm imagining...
If it is successful I reckon Zep should do it to his coupe...
Still not sure which I will do it to... hatch or wag... thinking maybe Wagon... def keen to give it a crack, would probably be willing to pay a decent ammount for the lamps too, maybe I should contact Yoeddynz... he headin back this way with all his worldly possessions and junk anyway sometime soonish!

aside from the cut-outs for the indicators and extra large headlamp are the guards the same? I seem to remember you (coggers) saying somthing about the differences in the bonnets... could the shape bonnet we have in NZ/Oz be trimmed to suit or are they massively different?! Looking at yours Tim I reckon the earlier Kadett bonnets are the same . I know you fancy doing a replica like the orange one but it's gonna be a lot easier to do an early Kadett rep . The bonnet looks identical so in theory you should be able to replace the grille/bumper with a Kadett one . And I bet the indicators on the front panel could be swapped for Kadett ones too.. Lose the indicators on the guards , black the headlight surrounds and you're just about there

Hey if you're feeling the Ascona love then , erm. . . hey , you guys heard of a 'Mancona' ? Basically someone takes a Manta and whacks an Ascona front end on it , I'll see if I can unearth a pic . . Kinda like Manta/Ascona version of a Chevini... They are very nice...

I think the LH looks too Kingswood-like, the UC Sunbird/Torana looks a little more Opelish in my eyes, I'd actually quite like to own a UC Coupe. Unfortunately they are worth too much, being that the early front is easy to fit to make a replica SLR/GTR whatever they are called, which is super boring.

What are the actual differences with the bonnets etc between kadett shapes?! I have a bonnet which needs the front edge cut off due to rot anyhow, as for guards apart from cut-outs they look like the same item's to me... hard to tell from pictures tho!

What are the actual differences with the bonnets etc between kadett shapes?! I have a bonnet which needs the front edge cut off due to rot anyhow, as for guards apart from cut-outs they look like the same item's to me... hard to tell from pictures tho! blue bonnet is early series 1 , white is later series 2 With the series 2 having the indicators up beside the headlights it meant that for all the ( square ) headlights are identical , they were moved inwards slightly to accomodate the indicator. . so the small 'cutout' bit is slightly longer on the series 2 bonnet. And the front lip on the series 2 is not quite so deep hence there being a slightly different front grille too. Series 1 grille is shallow , series 2 grille is deeper with the Opel badge on it . So series 1 .. thicker bonnet lip , thinner grille and series 2..thinner bonnet lip , thicker grille Oh and if it's of any use at all to you , here's my series 1 a few years back with the new front panel on

Your a bloody legend coggers... still undeterred though!!! Bit of chopping and fibreglassing lips onto the cut edges... not going to be an overnite thing...
Do you know of any headlamp units for sale? Maybe a grille too although a grill will be easy enough to make up a custom one. There is a member on here that is coming back to live in NZ from the UK soon who's name escapes me at the mo, real name Alex...
Anyhow he is willing to chuck in his container to save a few bucks and of course the hassles involved in international freight. Anyhow if you know of any that come up for sale for a fair price PM me!
Thinking of doing it to my Chevini Wagon... Also want to find the chrome roof bars, have all the chrome window trims.
If this all goes ahead if you still have the Series2 bonnet do you reckon you could draw me a stencil for the cut outs? (guards and bonnet) Would send you some $$$ via Paypal...
Would be so awesome to have this front on a car in the southern hemisphere... be very individual...
What I have is a chevette estate with the front mostly chopped away, it is panelled and primed. I also have the front cut off a gemini which needs minor rust repair mainly where the valance joins to the guards. Realy need to find a decent set of guards although I do have a drivers side guard which is cut half way along the wheel (the whole rear section adjoining door was rotten) Also have the bonnet I mentioned which is rotten along the bottom lip of the front above grill. So Mainly need a L/H guard which will need to be sourced in NZ and the headlamps/indicator units and a grill and I will have all the parts to make a Series2 Karavan body... cosmetically of course, will still have a Chevette dash.
Maybe I'm pissing in the wind even thinking of doing this but realy keen to try.
