img17.imageshack.us/img17/1647/pow0646wa.jpgUnrelated but very cool... That silver flared 2 door sedan is banging! Got any pics from other angles? The Kadett Karavan, doesn't seem to have headlite surrounds... do they have the same surrounds as gems normally or is that the kadett look for that shape? Would look good from a distance but up close surely youd see all the brackets and mountings etc... looks cool in pic tho...

That silver flared 2 door sedan is banging! Got any pics from other angles? . It's an Ascona , the Kadett's bigger brother - I've got the same pic but can't find any more pics of it . I love this one though.. The Kadett Karavan, doesn't seem to have headlite surrounds... do they have the same surrounds as gems normally or is that the kadett look for that shape? Would look good from a distance but up close surely youd see all the brackets and mountings etc... looks cool in pic tho... They're probably there , they normally paint them black so from a distance it just looks like a round light sitting there - bit like this one It'd be interesting to know if they are the same as the Gem 'cos they're like rocking horse sh1te here - most of them had the square lights so you just can't find the surrounds anywhere !

I would imagine that they are the same if not very similar. Most of the early models in NZ came with round lights, I can't remember seeing a square lights one. I gotta spare pair... phew

I have only one spare... wanna get me some square lights for when the wag conversion is finally done (in the year 2030) Not sure if the round lights will go on wag or hatch tho... ultimately I'd like to get some Kadett C later model headlite/indicator type units and mod guards to fit... sure it can be done... bonnet looks same (similar) just with larger grill area... Are these lamps easy to come by at your end coggers?

If you could also send me an Ascona that would be terrific...

Ascona B's have been my dream car since I discovered other Opel models a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't think there are any B models in New Zealand at all. The C model looks similar but is front wheel drive. The closest we have are Opel Manta B's, which aren't too bad anyway but not as awesome as the Asconas.

Are these lamps easy to come by at your end coggers? Yeah I've picked a few of them up over the years.. The square Kadett C headlight is the same on both the earlier and later models so they're not too bad to find . The later indicators appear from time to time but they're not too common tbh. But the early ones down in the front panel ( like mine ) are still easy to get brand new.

I'm just gana put it out there... anyone who claims to not be a tosser is a dirty Barry Whiteen liar (or an islamist.)
Probably easier to source normal early shape TD style square lights from Ozgemini... Will only go to the expense of sourcing the later model lights from europe... aside from the cut-outs for the indicators and extra large headlamp are the guards the same? I seem to remember you (coggers) saying somthing about the differences in the bonnets... could the shape bonnet we have in NZ/Oz be trimmed to suit or are they massively different?!
