youd be surprised stock diffs are pretty sturdy eh. piazza diff for the disc brakes though - gem diff a bit tougher again but still drums

2litre engines been certed with stock diff bro. is it a hatch or sedan? cant put a piazza/gem diff on a hatch without mods. gem diff on a sedan bolts straight on - piazza diff on a sedan wont work unless you change the shock mounts among other things. gem wagon diff bolts straight onto a hatch
you the guy hassling me about my piazza diff lol? i just got rid of a whole piazza a couple months ago eh. had it listed on trademe for ages but noone was keen. had everything minus engine/box

twin cam g200 is about 135hp. 4zc1-t is about 150hp. just put a gemini sedan diff in if i were you. bolts straight in and is quite a bit bigger/heavier than the chevette one. piazza youll have to change shock mounts to angled and panhard rod needs to be swapped to the opposite side. theyre basically the same diff just the piazza has disc brakes. youll also need the gemini torque tube for the piazza diff to fit on a chevette

you mean my 5 speed & remote shifter lol? like i said the piazza and gemini 5 speed boxes are exactly the same. ive seen 5 speeds on trademe for almost twice that price eh with no remote shifter

the thing with the remote shifter is it puts the shifter in a much better position whereas without it the shifter comes out at an angle. if youre gonna use an sr20 etc just use the gearbox from that eh. youll just have to adapt the drive shaft to fit a gem diff. the reason we use isuzu running gear is its minimal fabrication. im assuming you can either weld or you have plenty of cash?

shouldnt be paying more than a hundy for a gem diff. i just gave one away recently sorry - it didnt have a torque tube though. ask low-lyf gemi on here he might sell it to you but youd still need a torque tube

yeah me lol. may sell the g200 single cam if the price is right. they are good motors for the price and the fact they bolt into chevette/geminis with minimal modification

Brad has been using a standarc Chevette diff in his wagon for a while with a 2 litre ECOTEC - it's survived several track days and visits to the drag strip. Back in the day, they were used behind the DTV rally chevettes, but their problem was breaking the universals, IIRC, because of the changes in angle and the shock loadings over bumps, etc. Don't make a habit of dropping the clutch and hammering gearchanges and it should last quite well. May need to put Piazza venbted discs on the front, though. The original road HS and HSR used slightly larger solid discs.
