Cut all rust out of passenger side sill today, didn't take many photos cause you've all seen it before. Ready to seal and bolt the guards back on soon.

Barry White man, you've painted more cars in the last year than I will have someone else paint for me in my entire life. 6 years or so I've had my Gem, it needs one so so so bad.

Nah your gem looks sweet how it is, looks like a sweet track weapon imo.
I think this is the 5th paint job I've done this year. I'm sick of it but it's excellent practice and I'm still learning tricks every time I do a car.
The only reason this is coming along quite quickly is because I'm so amped to get the silver sedan in the shed and under way. I finally want to get a decent engine built and running on the megasquirt, it's been far too long!

Splashed some colour on after work today. Actual body is a month or so away away from paint. Not bad for a $55 base coat (for 5L) + some left over clear I think the colour is pretty sweet, should go with the brown interior a treat.

what sort of prep work did you do before priming apart from the rust repair & panel work? are you just going straight over the old paint or did you sand it down first to make more stable etc?

Sand blasted all rusty areas, otherwise 240g over the original paint in engine bay, primed, 400g then paint

Cheers man. I use a DA (dual action so it oscillates and spins) for roughing up bog and large panels like the roof, bonnet etc, but I use 9" and 17" blocks for getting the car straight along with a flexible pad for small areas like the engine bay or just do it by hand, and of course the hammer/dolly.
Yep the car will be all the same colour, 3 coats of base coat then probably 3 coats of clear.
