Keen for Gemini, but as usual, no money + saving for a month holiday in Aussie at the end of the year.

zep you shud buy my gemini! its pissng me off haha. do vettes normally have an externally regulated alt? mine has a common internal one that i can get heaps of spare parts for from work haha. and my mate at appco told me he can get me a full new starter for $180 hahahaha. if im too lazy to rebuild it or it has anything remotely expensive ill just replace it. Standard Chevette alt' is internally regulated - one (ignition) wire for power, one for the warning light, one for the output. The inertia starters are a piece of theproverbial to clean and check, bushes a few bucks - why spend over a hundred for few minutes work?

CHEVETTE- the altenators likley gonna need brushes, bushes and clutch. depends one the price (and availability) of the parts compared to the price of the new starter. as for the altenator that will likley need a new rectifier but theyre not uncommon, no doubt i can find one in the piles of spares we have haha.
was planing on riping the carpet out today but i didnt get out of bed untill around 4 so i decided id leave it untill tomorrow.. atleast its parked in the shed now, it cant flood any more than it already has this rainy weekend.
im thinking about geting insurance with free glass cover then having the front window mysteriously break and get the it and the Barry Whiteed rubber replaced for free.
also noticed today my passengers door is missing the bit that holds it open (between the hinges) wich is annoying for anyone trying to get in but doesnt bother me haha.
GEMINI- ive tried a new ecu. a new afm. i know i have the fuel pressure set correctly. im fast running out of ideas!
next step will be to check all the wiring for nooby loose earths and to remove and test the temp sensor for accuracy (**correct resistances please?**). its possable it may be sensing slightly wrong (it does actually work tho because it cuts out as soon as you unplug it).
then ill get some different injectors because thats (as far as i can think) the only thing left! they must be pulsing correctly therefore they can only be pulsing too much =S
HELP!
oor you can make me an offer on it =D however the ammount of money ive pourd into it i wouldnt let it go cheap -im under no illusions that im ever going to get back close to what ive spent but it DOES have a freshly rebuild engine, a full new interior and a nice sound system.

researching for info- the efi system on the g200 is made by JECS and is actually a bosch L-Jetronic system, wich is very common (in various forms) on 80s cars. so now atleast i have a start point to getting the official pin out and any other info i can on the wiring wich ive been after for months haha

ill put pics up when i have something to show ow! wich happens to be now because i just pulld the carpet out of the vette =D
unfortunately my internet is currently doing a great impersonation of dialup, and im a very impatient person, so you probably have to wait.
CHEVETTE- with the help of half a can of CRC i managed to remove all the old (and very odd) nuts, bolts, and screws holding the seats and trim down. then came the terrifying part- ripping up the carpet and underlay.. .. ..absolutely no rust! *sigh of relief* realisation- thers insulation there aswell wich could be hiding rust =S out with the flatblade... 20 minutes and a pile of insulation krap later shes %99 rust free- just a tiny bit of surface on the passengers side thatl come off with a bit of a wirebrush =D
i guess it must of been garaged before i brought it- the ammount of water siting at the bottom of the footwells after just one week outside would easily be enough to rust right through the floor. i literally had to pop out all the bungs and sweep the water out after the carpet was removed (and thats after 2 nights siting in the dry shed)
**who knows a good window rubber place?** ive decided my original plan or attacking it with silicon wont work- the rubber is too split and krappy.
**who can recomend a good carpet place?** i was hoping to dry out the old carpet and re-use it but its rotten and very faded.

heres your pics crazytim =D the thing i do for you! im in love with this face haha my missing L needs a clean but i was extremely lucky with it =D compare- the Left rear clearance (3 finger space) to the Right rear clearance (barely 1 finger space) ill just stab a hole in the left shock to even them out, or get some bricks in the boot! its funny because my gem is the exact oppasit.

GEMINI- im after some injectors for her- the last thing i can think of =S know where i can get some new? or wich other ones fit?
CHEVETTE- finally got inspired to rip off the altenator and starter to rebuild at work.
LOL that it has an axial starter!! and PLEASE tell me theres an easyer way to get it out than moving the exhaust! i have the bolts off and its out.. just not out of the engine bay caus i got pissd off with trying.
anyone lookd into fiting a gear reduction?
i shall add chevettes to the list of *i really dont want to* cars that everyone runs away from at work =D like v6 ftos and galants, v6 mondeos, bighorns... all are missions for starters, altenators or both haha.

im in love with this face haha The ugly duckling does grow on you aye! As far as the height issues, have you parked it on different surfaces to make sure its not just where its parked. It does seem awefully fishy and even the most smooth of surfaces can have quite large undulations. I definitely was about to get my starter motor out without removing the exhaust manifold, but I did take the alternator and all the other brackets off too. It was about 6 years ago now but I may have even taken the engine mount off aswell, not 100% on that one though.

No reason to use a geared starter on a 1256 - I had one with 2mm taken off the head and it turned over as sweet as on a cleaned and lub'ed stock starter. Chevettes are one of the easiest cars to work on - just need to know the little details - same as any other car.

yea was planing on moving the manifold but hoping there was an easyer way... i dont like playing with exhaust bolts if i dont need to.
and yes i agree they are easy- thats why i buy old cars haha. i love the amount of wiring involved aswell
