battery in the boot stz, passenger side box $10 from supacheap and weld some threaded tube to the floor, mount the box over this then use standy battery clamps into the threaded tube, run the wiring along the inside of the sill stz if you're patient enough to thread it , and make sure your earths are good if you aren't running the earth as well but you know all this the main thing is that its secure and not going to come loose and arc on the body when its in such close proximity to the fuel tank

ok a bit of an update (finally) car is err. sorta running. adjustable FPR, new o2 sensor, sparking great (after it was wired properly haha) and everything seems to be functioning how it should. only problem is it runs so rich it fouls the plugs in minutes. i managed to "drive" it home from puke with a clutch so loose it wasn't fully disengaging and the poor car coughing and pissing black smoke the whole way. the clutch i can manage. but have spend hundreds on manhours trying to get it running good. 4 pages of tested this and tweaked that made no difference. ill see if i can get a copy of the work done up here later on this week when he fax's it to me (i was too impatient to wait for him to print it) im going to have a play myself this week and take it into work next week to see what they can do for me but any ideas would be much appreciated.

i officially have the bug. brought my 2nd T-car today. a YELLOW 1977 CHEVETTE HATCH. gos minta, a few little bits missing but nothing crucial. windows leak like a mo fo and carpets all wet.. scared what im gona find when i pull it up.. took me a while to get used to it all. Barry Whiteing weird car.. couldnt find reverse, had to use all my brain power to find the horn, and the lights, and high beam, and how to open the bonnet argh! really fun to drive tho, if only it wasnt a 4 speed! oh and is it normal to have 4 different keys!!! wtf! door key, ignition key, boot key, and fuel cap! visit to the lock smith me thinks.
i need an L. as in -v a u x h a "L" l- <<<that one. i need the surround for the interior door handle bit. i probably need new carpet haha. i want to find a boss kit and some info on geting a new shift nob on there.. havnt had much of a look but doesnt seem to be very strate forward. also, did vettes ever come in 5speed? if so im keen for a gearbox. other than that shes pretty perfect for a daily (for now)
oh and burntrubber can you send me that g200 ecu? no hurry, its officially a project now haha

Good man. Zep will be gutted. Chevettes didn't come with a 5 speed and too my knowledge theres not one that can be easily made to fit. They all leak. You are a n00b for not being able to find everything, its all in obvious places for old crap. Except for the bonnet release, I'll let you off for that one Stoked that it doesn't need to much. Have a look at that floor asap, you REALLY should have done that before buying it man. I've owned several Chevettes and rust in the floor pan is their cryptonite. Lets hope all is well down there.

... and under the battery and washer bottle - can be fixed but a fair bit of stuffing around. I know of a couple of Chevettes that were converted to 5 speed using Toyota (3/4K?) gearboxes. Large or small "L" - they came in two sizes.
Oh, welcome to the light side.

Dending on how you like your 'sounds', 4" speakers will fit into the front kick panels with some panel work and plywood spacers for magnet/voice coil clearance. It's darned difficult to stop a Chevette engine leaking oil, but it can be done with careful assembly. To get the starter out, remove the alternator and undo the manifold to head bolts so it can be moved clear - makes the job SOOOO much easier! It will probably just need a good clean of the commutator and maybe brushes, if the bearings are worn, they're cheap and easy to replace - just make sure they're WELL oiled. Alternators are a weak point - had quite a few with a faulty diode and/or winding. If you can be bothered, a good swap is to make up a mounting bracket for a Bosche out of a Holden or similar. Internal reg', etc. One power wire and one warning light wire - I had an 80A one for a while when I was using mega powerful lights (560W+)

Oh, usual reason for low temperature reading is a faulty thermostat or no thermostat at all. Easy fix.

zep you shud buy my gemini! its pissng me off haha. do vettes normally have an externally regulated alt? mine has a common internal one that i can get heaps of spare parts for from work haha. and my mate at appco told me he can get me a full new starter for $180 hahahaha. if im too lazy to rebuild it or it has anything remotely expensive ill just replace it.
