Will make gbox xmember, they aint hard. Put diff in on Sunday, they are a lot bigger! Brakes also a lot bigger. Had to swap some of the brake fittings over cause some were metric and some imperial. Also had to redrill the front mounting bracket of the torque tube as the Chevette holes are closer together than Gemini. I tried to swap them over.. but couldnt figure out how without possible destruction. Dont know about drive-shaft yet as I dont have one. Wont be fitting engine and box up until I have painted engine bay. Fitted wheels Not much clearance to play with. Will need to space front. Stoked my center caps fit.. gunna machine it down so they are flush.. Thats all for now. Lots of progress for us!

When you get a drive shaft double check the spline shape on your box aye... Some shafts have a triangular profile and some are a square profile (on the spline) Get what I mean? Not sure if it is the age or different tween 4 & 5 speed or what, just know I have a few of each... (don't think any spare, need for projects, will count up tho...)

Also be prepared for the Whine of the mighty Salisbury diff! Apparently they virtually did it from new and not a lot can be done about it...

Mine doesnt whine? - I remeber changing the brake line connections too, but not for the metric/imperial, I changed mine because of the fittings, I think it was going to end up male/male rather than female/male where the rear brake line connects..

Paint is on! After a year of Gaz hasselling me to finish the panel work so he could have his garage back... i finally got it as good as i could with my amature bogging ability. We pushed it down to a spray booth down the road and Gaz got his paint on. I managed to rope another couple of our mates into helping with some final prep work. Thanks Nick! My least favourite job... hence why it took so long!!! Primed in Etch primer, sealed it all up. The colour in the enginebay. Yes i changed my mind from green and went for a light beige/creamy type colour. After we managed to blow up the compressor and somehow stuff the big extractiong fan... :S Took the car (which looked like a light yellow/lemony colour in the booth) out in the light... I was much happier to see it didnt have a yellow tinge at all - i like it Just got to get it clear coated now as the fan and compressor stuffed out after the top coat.. so will be nice and glossy next time i post. But talk about progress!

nice, only a slight tint isnt it?
Looks good, I think I prefer the rostyle on the rear - but thats just me I guess!
Jealous that its going to have fresh coat - looking all straight & sharp, mine for the most part will be staying original

Yeah those wheels weren't the original look i was wanting. I want white walls.. always have.. guess i should really go back to that idea. Keep getting side-tracked when things pop up on trademe haha. Work in progress. Happy with colour. Its not completely straight. I have done all the bogging myself.. and if anyone saw it before i started it was dented every Barry Whiteing where. So ive straighten it up somewhat.. but lets not look at it too closely. Its all about improvement! It does feel good. Will feel way better when it has its 1600 fitted and WOF'd!

So Chevette vs Calibra Ecotec started last night.
Stripped all the extra bits I didnt need of the Ecotec and dropped it in the hole. Then pissed around for an hour trying to get gbox to line up which eventually worked. Tunnel only needs mild hammer work and im going to try keep original gbox mounts and use them to mount the 2l Holden VN 5speed. The mounts are close to some mounting points on box.
With engine sitting as far back as I can get it and sump sitting on steering rack the cam cover only just clears the bonnet, I may have to hammer the sump slightly aswell. The real problem is the standard TB which faces straight up. Answer will be either custom plenium or harsh right angle on intake. Not so keen on making custom plenium as Im using standard ECU and the plenium has alot of sensors and eco nuts.
Mounts wont be too bad to make and standard exhaust is facing the right way and should clear mounts. Water lines are also already located at front of engine so big bonus there. Yet to see if I can retain standard brake booster.
Thats all for now.

Nice progress, but I'm confused - Calibra ECOTEC/1600? Calibra ECOTEC is a 2 litre, like Brad's - they had 5 different engine options, 4 different 2 litre fours and a 2.5 litre V6. Or is it two different cars, with a Isuzu in the 'Vette?
