The only stock offset for the 7x13 Superlite is 7mm, with a backspacing to the outer edge of the rim of 93mm. For a 7" rim on a Chevette, you really need around a 20-25mm offset, depending on tyre used, to maximise guard clearance and still not rub on the front damper on full droop. Stupid thing is, the 8" rim may fit a little better, depending on tyre used.
HOWEVER, as you're looking at a HSR bodykit, it should look pretty damed good, regardless.

HSR will eat 7's aye. They will look tiny under the guards surely. I thought those things would have massive wheels.

thats interesting. im looking at the performance alloys super lights for my chevette/piazza. Think ill go 15x8. Not sure waht offset to chose..i think i can have any i want. prob go 0 or like +4 or something like that(edit:and make the car fit them ;D). I hope you can chose ur offset on the superlights, i know u can on some of the other wheels in their range. Had been looking at either the black center ones or geting some silver ones and geting them repainted. Funnything is i saw a cressida with some 15x7s with black centers today and they looked so choice

Looks like the 15x8 has two options, - or + 4mm. personally, I'd go for the +, that should be the one with it slightly more towards the car - it should help guard clearances.

The road car wasn't that much - I would expect 6" as standard fitting - the rears were wider as the diff' they were using was wider than the Chevette one. Tarmac rally spec' arches were different, though, 8" on the front and 11" on the rear. hate think what it was like driving on those wide tyres with a 2.5:1 quick rack and no power assistance. Be a cow to drive at low speeds. Personally, I think I prefer the HS arches.

Funny you should say that Gordo....I was thinking just the other day that I prefer the HS guard rather than the full HSR kit.....hmmm food for thought.

I'm all for the HSR kit aye. I think those sharp lines along the arches look great. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they kind of attempted to make it look newer than it is with the incorporated bumpers etc. I think this is the case on the HS model also though.
I reckon the HSR kit would look best on a 2 door sedan but even a 4 door with the rears welded shut would be pretty fu8king awesome! Do it tom. hah

i will see how well the wheels fit. if theyre way too wide then some sort of flares will be in order. prob not keen on hsr tho...
edit: nah it was thought up in the late 70's, built to take on the likes of BDA mk2 escorts, TR7s, stratos's, quattros etc. Looks just like all the other cars from that era...

Barry whiten!!!!! I just jumped down the hole I just bought the whole shooting kaboodle off trademe. Managed to talk my mrs into it being a much cheaper option to buy the following... CF 2.3 slant four, hot cam, worked head with bigger inlet vavles, cross drilled crank, chevette modified sump for it with modded pickup, inlet manifold with twin 40mm side drafe dellortos. Toyota w50 gearbox with matched bell housing Piazza diff and axles, discs etc engine mounts and cross member for chevette I'm in heaven! Apparently good for 200bhp odd at the crank can someone say track day coming on?

hang on, 40 mm sidedrafts? Are you sure - the standard fitting for the 2.3 is 48 mm and I really doubt you'd get anywhere near the quoted power figures on 40s. Should be a nice wee beastie, though Guess that means I missed out on the Konis [edit] Nope, still there ...

I think it was a HS style air dam. POS cost $80 - wasn't impressed and not surprised you're not using it either.
