Gem front is kinda on, is ur wags a vette? u goin 4 older front or tf/tg? the latter is just a matter of making brackets 2 space off the h/lites and grill/valance support bracket (yes, a bracket 4 a bracket) a lil chop @ the end of each guard and a bash with a mallet as the vette guards are almost dead flat where they bolt on and the gem guards on later models anyhow dip down a lil 2 wars the nose. The bonnet bolts straight on and the guards obviously fit nicely along the doorline etc just a few mholes need redrilling along guard as mostr holes dont line up but that easy. Now the vette dun ill be movn it up 2 garge and chevini down 2 barn so will start havn a fiddle here n there who knows when the bug will bite may b ready sooner than i know...

so whatd u gals think about tha tf front on the chevini? until i 1st saw tha kadet c city i was fully keen on goin with a td gem front but not anymore... thinkn may do a conversion on my wagon down the track then will have the tg gear 4 chevini...cud do the tg now but wud prefer it stays on wags and realy dont want 2 cars with exactly the same front. Chevini in barn now gana start doin rust repair on passenger floor already have patch cut from wreckd vette i had, just gots 2 weld the sucker in then all welding on chevini done (except 4 mods 2 take gem front of coarse!!) then slap a nice thick coat of anti corrosive paint across floor pan. The next thing is prepping/painting engine bay, also hav 2 strip apart front end, replace bushes/engine mounts, strip/paint components and reassemble(found chevette mount block rubbers @ PARA rubber 4 $10ea, just gotta chk the threads r rite!) Next is carpet gana have 2 get 2 sets one 4 wagon also...and retrimming or finding a decent cover 4 rear seat...then gana clean up/paint seat rails and mount recaros on them as my rails i had already lovingly restored (along with a small pile of other stuff!!) went in boganvette. Then interior apart from heater console is done. Already spray died stock mint vette panels in satin black. (they were the most hideous shade of baby blue...cum on vauxhall i know it was the early 80s but what were u thinkin?) Also replaced alot of the visable screws on door with nice button head hex drive st-st machine screws. Also had door/boot strikers chromed along with a few other pieces. cost almost $100 i now know 2 get price 1st nxt time!!! cant think of what else is done...just know between working, the chevini and the wagon i got alot 2 do!!! mite go down 2 the autobarn and start chipn away @ it...

Thats so difficult to read, seriously.
I think somewhere in there you said you were going to use $10 block rubbers from para. I'd say nah, they will get chewed out so fast. You can get ford cortina ones for about $30 and they have steel on the top and bottom to stop them from getting chewed out and they still get chewed out. Still might be worth a look but just a word of warning.

Ford 2.0 Cortina/Pinto Engine mounts I think will do the trick, I've had some and the bolt straight into the exisiting subframe. They are alot wider, and around the same thickness
Only down side is they dont have offset bolts like the chevettes do, but *but* from memory the chevettes engine mount has a slotted hole anyway so you might be able to get away with it...
Cheers,Chris

PARA rubber also have most the door, boot and some window seals 4 our chariots of satan! the mounts they had did have steel ends... they designed as silencing buffer/mounts for large machines...may chek it out still $20 instead of $60odd...thinkn maybe they got stuck with them when someone over or misordered?!

rite e ho... easter weekend gave me the time and the weather to get sum work done on the 1st of my 3 t cars which i pretty much havnt touched since i got it in october 2005...well thats not quite true but nothing major... anyhow prepped, primed and painted engine bay in satin black which took a day and a bit in amongst doing other things... also stripped doner gem drivetrain and degreased engine. Need to bolt on the 5spd box, detail clean a lil bit more polish up sum alloy a bit, paint up some bits and pieces and drop front end out of chevini and lower the body straight onto the gem front end assembly. Also was goin thru my chevini parts boxes i had squirrelled away and found all the stuff i polished and painted up in chevini green and gloss black detailing such as wiper motor, starter, altenator and pulleys altho wont bother with bottom pulley as kant be arsed changing crank seal when i pull the pulley out (if it aint broke etc) but yeah shud look mean as with all the green detailing... planning on putting twin carbs and extractors i have on this too so maite as well whack off the head and get my head machinist guy to do an overhaul, port and polish matching the manifolds etc whatever...doesnt mean much to me being a dumbass have to get him to explain it to me (again!!) then paint up the rocker cover... anyone know if the rocker cover gets too hot for normal paint... 1 of my mates reckons car paint will hold up... jus not sure if you can get color match hi temp...sounds expensive!! green rocker cover would be cool...maybe silver...gana paint me radiator silver...jus tryin to do sum different color schemes from the engine in the wags... anyhow didnt get as far as i wanted but pretty happy i made such a dramatic start...jus gotta try and keep the motivation up!! oh yea dropped the sedan on myself... the rear end was being held up by 2 fully extended scissor jacks. fortunatly i was sitting on the ground under the rear wheel arch and the diff was out so just held it up with my shoulder for 30 seconds or so counted to 3 and jumped out the way and let it come down!! was working outside in the drive in thge dark koz i stood on my lamp my mrs did warn me!! she always knows best and i never listen...maybe i better start!! mite keep me alive a lil longer!! took progress pics of engine bay tidy up '08 version 2.0 will endeavor to get them up when i hav more!!
