Alright gang ?
From the last few weeks then...
Got these bits powdercoated
Which fit onto the back of the rear seat here :
Can't really see them once fitted but they were pretty manky and I got the powdercoating done for free so why not..
Bonnet stay was pretty rusty..... :
...and the plastic clip had seen better days :
So the stay was powdercoated silver ... :
.. and the clip was repainted in stain black . I think originally it was just a push in affair but I refitted it with some stainless bolts :
Had to replace the bonnet locking pins again... I thought I'd asked the painter to remove them before the respray but I mustn't have . They were left in place so the pins that come up through the slam panel were full of overspray . Not his fault at all , just a lack of communication from me . On the plus side though the panel gaps look okay now !
Got some new wiper blades , refitted the arms etc , also touched up the radiator with a bit of satin black where it had suffered from a little bit of overspray so the front end is now finally finished :
Gave the trim panel that runs behind the rear seat a lick of satin black and cleaned up the screws... :
...and threw the rear seat in - groundbreaking !
Time to sort out the boot area ..
The panels that sit over the petrol tank and spare wheel were an inch or so too short - Kadett/Chevette and/or year change differences blah blah :
So I made some . Had the black vinyl laying around from when I was going to do the headlining in it so might as well be put to good use :
^ Few lumps and bumps in it there but looks fine now it's settled , blind man on a galloping horse etc .
Attacked the fuel filler neck thing , removed the old red vinyl , bit of flap disc action and a splash of new vinyl :
Bit of stainless bolt action and we're done :
Other boot panel was recovered successfully and installed , thanks for asking . Dug out an old JBL amp and sub that I'd bought years ago . Sub was too large to fit in the miniscule boot area so I ended up getting an El Cheapo basstube thing instead :
Yep , it's dusty in that unit !
Wasn't a fan of the 'bass face' logo , little bit too 'tracky bottoms' for me . So rotated it and also chucked some black and white chequered stickers on the amp - much better :
All four inner arches got a blast of black stonechip :
And in yet more groundbreaking news , found my Opel valvecaps....
Got the front doors back together . Dug through the pile of window channel rubbers I had to find a decent set :
Outers on :
Inners on :
Door cards back on . Changed the chrome handles for black ones . Chevette door cards which have an extra piece along the bottom - you just can't beat an extra piece of carpet..
These were the seats we were going to fit , Viva SL jobbies , but they're going to be a little bit too much work to sort tbh :
Shame as they were a decent match for the rear seat .
So I pulled these out of storage earlier today and we'll attempt to chuck them in by next weekend :
Thought initially they were a tad too erm , 'sporty' but they look okay tbh , I'm sure they'll work well .
Also dug out a Chevette HS centre console which I'll attempt to make fit this week too ... I've got it so might as well use it :
Also , new black leather gear knob and gaiter are on their way to me via Ebay , should land this week .
Cheers all
