Thanks Yammies !
From last time then :
Bought these new courtesy light switches from Holland , already had the new rubbers for them 'in stock'
And on :
Glued the inner rear arch fabric trims back on :
Main job of the weekend was the headlining . 'New' one out of the '82 Chevette breaker on the left , original Kadett one on the right which had gone brittle over time . I was going to cut the old one up , make some patterns and have a go at making one - got as far as buying some cheap black vinyl and a sewing machine - but when I bought the Chevette ( primarily for it's solid doors..) I noticed the headlining was pretty mint so decided just to use that one instead .
The four metal rods on the newer headlining were quite rusty so I yanked them out and put the older but cleaner ones in :
I'd damaged some of the plastic clip things that fit on the end of the rods whilst removing the headlining so I got some new ones from Holland , same supplier as the courtesy light switches :
Perfect fit , they go here :
I have spares too so if anybody needs some pm me..
To cut a long story short , headlining was in and out several times and I couldn't quite get it right
So I put just the first rod in and refitted the interior mirror which sort of kept it in the right place . I glued the front edge down and bulldog clipped it in place but forgot to take a pic , looked pretty much like this though :
Idea was to have the front bit central and the lip glued down then work backwards from there .
Glass all tinted now , back screen was the last ( and trickiest ! ) to do but thankfully I didn't have to do it ;D
Doors are 30% , rear three bits are 50% :
Headlining just about in via spray adhesive , bulldog clips and swearing
Only got a couple of places left to stick down now and it could certainly do with a clean - sunvisors too . I'd only put the visors back in to make sure the front section was in the right place :
MickyJ came over to help refit the glass he'd tinted and being an expert window fitter brought his specialist tool along too :
New rear glass rubber :
Which we wrestled onto the back screen :
And in :
Similar story with the two rear side windows although I didn't get new seals for them , was lucky enough to find 'good as new' secondhand ones a few years ago ..
They're not quite as dark as those ^ pics would suggest , this pic gives a better indication :
Front windscreen is new , yet another part bought from Aly , Kadett C forum :
Clear with a blue sunstrip . 'Made In England' - Oh well , never mind.... :
New rubber about to go on :
Fitted :
Door glass in as well :
Finally chucked the front plate on :
..and from earlier today :
Dug out the remaining chrome wing bolts and speed clips :
Got some new bolts and washers for the bumper brackets . Brackets were powdercoated years ago, rubbers are new :
Bumper brackets were originally black then I painted them silver . They looked a bit odd tbh so I've done them satin black again... :
They do blend in a bit better with the black grille :
New bumper on with new chrome bolts and that's the front end finished :
Cheers all
