Hell yeah. Those would have to be the best standard new wheels I have seen in years are. Such a crazy amount of dish right there.
I didn't buy them originally because I thought they wouldn't fit among other things but after doing mine I'm certain they will go one with minimal issues.

I am going to have the guards rolled properly when it's painted, just to make sure there's enough clearance, but I reckon that amount of dish will just squeeze in.

Well spoke to the owner of PK Paint and Panel.... he reckons it could be to $4k for a decent inside and out job. That will be back to bare metal, any dents, ripples and rust removed and a gaurantee of the paintwork when finished.
That would put a lot of other plans on hold for a while, but it will show car quality... hmmm decisions... (opinions welcome!).

My opinion, and one generally seen to be agreed with by many friends and people on oldschool.co.nz, is that a crazy engine is far more important than a nice panel and paint. I'm sure you'll regret doing the panel after you begin driving it with a 1256 under the bonnet.
Also, it makes more sence to be to get a nice engine sorted out and built up. Modify what needs to be modified including diff, guards etc and then once everything is all done, pull the engine out and do a full strip back panel and paint inside doors and engine bay then just stick it back together and you are done.

Wise words... and ones I needed to read, I think. That's exactly right, the diff is noisy as hell, the engine has now started smoking like a rastaman and there is so much more possibilty of damaging the paintwork when doing the mechanical work I'm planning. Hell, after a minter paint job, I'd be so gutted if something went wrong and I damaged it.

Yeah dude. That paint looks decent enough anyway. My car is going to look like crap but it'll go well. Thats what you should do with yours aswell.

Nah the paint is awful up close, crazed to f**k and cracked down to bare metal on the bonnet. I could go for the rat look, but as my missus thinks it looks so manky she doesn't like getting in it, it will need doing... but later, much later....

Could lazily sell them on, not really keen on keeping them and having to find space. Once I stop buying motocross bikes and actually buy the tyres for the Superlites I'll let you know. Won't want much for them.

cant wait to see it on the super lights!! Will be done soon, once the diff is in I'll get the tyres (the gem diff will still require some modding as the Chevette hatch as the stupid angled struts at the back, which have a different mounting set up on the diff to every other Chevette and Gem).
