The checker plate is the washer bottle and it also holds the fuse box and relays.

Been chasing this starting issue finnally found it Megasquirt dosent like my battery in the boot. Its a mint 560cca battery with all new cables but i get epic backfires and lock ups when cranking. I've done so much trying to find it bought a trigger wheel from diyautotune.com made whole new loom made a new case for my megasquirt to hold few bits like fan control proper tach out and launch control. Anyway I changed the starter because the solinoid had began to click and about 90% of the cranking issues went away I guess the starter was abit sad making heaps of electrical noise off for a wof in a week or so I hope.

So was the megasquirt not getting a good enough voltage or was it the electrical noise from the tired old starter that was making it reset etc? Interesting.
Would you go with megasquirt again or try something a little more "plug and play"?

Bit of both still got voltage drop issues but it starts easily enough for now I'm thinking maybe an extra ground strap on the engine block. The starter was definatly 75% of it. I would definatly go megasquirt again can't beat it in my opinion. When used with a wideband o2 it's real fun to mess with.

Done the extra ground strap along with new power feeds all the way from the boot to the coils injectors and the ECU it's self. I now have about 10% of the of the voltage issues car starts great. Been messing with the accel inrichments this weekend there almost sorted I havnt been able to do them untill now because of all my issues. Car drives great also only running 10psi still I've got an external wastegate with 18 psi springs that'll be getting on there at xmass. Have a Mack oil leak from the rear crank seal which may fail a wof so g-box probably comming off this weekend which is ok seen as it has real noisy bearings/sycros. Might take a vid of it driving it's pretty mean even on 10psi.

Hay what did paint did you use for the boot looks sick. And the battery is that mounted. With brackets like it would sit in the from of the car?

Paint is black AE12 etch primer and yeah the battery just clamps down with a normal batterey clamp theres an angle on each side with a hole for it.
