So I bought this car ages about 2 years ago from a kid who was given it by his granny but didn't want it. Came stock as a rock, nothing ever changed on it, and 78,000kms on the clock - pretty small really. Looked a bit like this: Will post up stage two shortly.

Pretty much straight away I started to change things. Most of the stuff I did now was your average stuff that anyone would do. Fix up the looks, free up the power, same old things. It ended up with: SSR Mesh 15x7 wheels Lowering springs Tokico shocks 32/36 carb 4-1 extractors and a 2" exhaust Pics: Stage 3: Turbo!!

Things are slowly coming toghether. The Hilux diff is under modification by BR, found a commodore diff for $45 which I'll hopefully pcik up tomorrow for the brakes. He's also made me a dump pipe and a new exhaust manifold which looks ultra-sexy!!! May have also secured the hook-ups on a LINK ECU and tuning etc for my 21st present so if that happens, the ol' girl might be back on the road sooner than I thought Quick run down on how she's shaping up to be: ENGINE: G161z Shortened rods Heavy Duty Crank Forged Pistons Strenghtened block Port and polish double valve springs larger valves turbo cam copper head gasket Pertronix electronic ignition (most possibly) custom high-mount exhaust manifold T3 bal bearing turbo Custom dump pipe w/ wide band oxy sensor 4ZE1 inlet manifold 450cc vr4 injetors (if they fit!! what else can i use??) Modified 4ZE1 plenum Falcon XF Throttle Body Oldshcool vr4 intercooler 3 Core gemini radiator 2lt Surge Tank Bosche 300hp fuel pump Malpassi boost referenced fuel reg DRIVELINE: Gemini 5 Speed Commodore vented discs /w Audi Calipers up front Custom Driveshaft (of some sort, possibly shortened commo) Hilux 4.44 LSD w/ custom torque tube mounting system Commodore rear discs and calipers SUSPENSION: Current: Tokico shocks and Superlow Kingsprings all around To Purchase: GAZ adjustables + custom Snells springs Few new bushings INTERIOR: Black carpet Various gauges: boost, oil pressure, water temp Racepro buckets x2 (got one so far!!) Half Cage (also hoping for this one) Harnesses?? I do want some!! New steering wheel (old one is getting mouldy!!) Fire extinguisher Some pioneer sounds + new headunit (old one blew up) EXTERIOR: Stock paint (for now. Will either respray it in same yellow or gunmetal grey) Keeping the Gemini bumpers (come get the chevette ones Mikuni!!) Debadged Konig Rewind 15x7 graphite rims (i hope!!) w/ some tyres dunno yet Thats all. The car is in so many peices at the moment. But saying that, minus the paint and the new suspension, it could be running on the road again pretty soon!! Woooooooo Just intime for the cold winter air

Ok quick update on how things are going!!
That car is still sitting on stands with no diff, d/shaft, gear box or engine in it at the moment. I've stripped out the entire engine bay to be sanded and resprayed before I put the engine back in (it was starting to look a bit rank). Hopefully will be getting some knowledgeable help in doing this.
The engine is in bits, I need to get a new sump modded with a better oil return and also get the i/c inlet and outlet sleeved to 2". Will take them both up to Performance Metalworks in Silverdale to sort that stuff out. Bought a few guages to keep me satisfied that things are runnign properly: *Oil Pressure, boost, water temp - might get a fuel pressure too, depends on money/mounting issues (damn these Gemini dashes!!)
What else... oh! I have recieved my manifold and dump pipe from BR. As you prolly read, amazing work, i'm sure you'll all see it some time in the near future.
Have decided not to go for the 1/2 cage at the moment (might need to sleep back there or something), maybe when I upgrade to a GemRacing engine - hopefully he's doing 4ZE1s by then!! haha
Rims are on their way from Cali, just had to wait for Dad's wine shipment to turn up at the agent. And have ordered a few last things - panhard rod, 2nd bucket seat, BOV and need to get a sway bar going on some time.
So, quick list of things to do! *Sand, bog and spray engine bay *Mod sump & i/c and put engine back together *Wait, pay for and install Hilux diff. *Chuck the engine and gearbox in * Finsh last stuff = gauges, seat, boot floor, etc *Give car to Torque Performance to install Link and Tune *Certs!!
------------------- Did a little bit of boring work today: Cut out some new inlet manifold gaskets, replaced the thermostat and applicable gaskets. Stripped the sump and head gasets from the engine, were baked on hard!!
Hurrah!

Righty, well I've been doing a bit of work recently (should really have been doing some uni work, I'm getting stressed about this now! haha). The car isn't looking too well at the moment: Ah well, should be looking nicer soon once it has rims and stuff to sit on. Been starting to put the engine back together and it's got about this far: Might redo a few of the bolts with locktite tho, just to be on the safe side. Hopefully I'll get the rest of the engine together next weekend, then gotta start sanding the engine bay, not something I really can be assed doing :S

Hmm its looks better than my TG. I see you got the manifold on. What washers have you got on there not spring aye. Their pointless on the exhaust. Guess I best hurry that diff along aye.

Yeah they are spring washers. I jsut bought a whole lot of them. I doubt it'll make a difference in the long run. Haha, yeah not too much longer till it's running (hopefully!!!), but I still got heaps to do so don't worry too much eh. Any news on the brakes?

Um nah no news on the brakes was sposed to go to all the wreakers on saturday to have a looksy but that clutch turned into an all day job was sposed to be done by about 10:30am was gutted. I will have to just get stuck in my work is so busy I've been there 8 years and never seen it like this.
Those washers will be sweet they will just be flat washers once its been hot.

That engines looking great man. Luving the manifold on there. Turbo sits real nice. Did you end up opting for an hpc coat or anything?
I highly recommend sand blasting your engine bay. Gemini ones aren't particularly difficult, but for around $100 and a perfect etch primed finish you can't go wrong.

I decided not to coat anything, bit easier that way.. haha. Sand blasting sounds like a good idea, know anywhere in auckland that will do it for it? Gotta get the car rolling before I can think about something like that tho!! Also, Hopper Stoppers master cyclinder arrived today w0000t!

Umm, it's a 4 bolt 1" bore master cyclinder from Hopper Stoppers. Ended up costing $250 AUD which is a bit more than Matt paid for his one but what can ya do... Bolts right on and let hope it clears the EFI gear!!!

Recently: Got the head refaced, took some more nuts out of a engine bay. Ordered all new bushes for the control arms and the trailing arms. Also got the intercooler opened up to 2" inlet and outlets and also am getting the shoddy welding replaced, it was leaking all over the show!! Furthermore; I made this. Got some ally cut by North Shore Plate cutters (turned out all the guages were random diameters!!! so had to do some filing), I rekcon it looks the biz. Has boost, oil pressure and water temp
