After tripping over an engine I had lying around at work.... the boss was getting a bit upset... It was the motor out of a c31 laurel that I wrecked a few months ago... managed to get my hands on a manual box for it too. It's a Z20 Smogger.. or it was... It had a 1 1/4" exhaust, smog gear all over it, carb was covered in vacuum lines and emission control crap... It's now sitting in my parts hatchback (It didn't quite fit, but gravity and a little (Read: a lot) bit of rust helped the motor slot into the engine bay without removing the gearbox first I've made the rear gearbox mount, though there isn't much left of the floor!!! I'll finish the engine mounts sometime over the next couple of weeks as they are alresay mocked up and just need welding and spacing to get them right. I haven't figured out what to use for a carb yet, but was thinking a cortina or sierra carb would do the trick... does anyone have a 2 litre pinto carb lying around?

ok so have had to modify the sump and pickup.... was going to run twin SUs but there are clearance issues with the master cylinder and booster... So I bought a 32/36 twin choke weber and will just adapt it to the factory manifold..
This car will never be anything pretty, but should be a load of fun for autocross type gravel events - It's a bucket of rust, so no issues if I stack it!

Sweet! Should be a fair amount of fun for a autocross car, power to burn on 13's!

Haha yeah.. theres a hell of a lot of rust in her, so i need to add a bit of metal where the gearbox mounts are, and dodgy up a floor Other than that, all she really needs now is a fuel pump, a clutch master cylinder, and a driveshaft... and patch the subframe...shouldn't take too much really.... (Famous last words.....) Oh yeah, and a new front crossmember/lower radiator support panel - prob just use some RHS and 3mm plate!
