Taupo Dual Sprints

Had a great run at Taupo on saturday! Tony, Reg and I cruised down on friday so we were there nice and early on saturday morning. Was foggy and freezing but soon cleared and racing was under way. We had five runs in the dual sprints were they line up 12 cars on the grid and let them go 2 at a time. Was cool as you had 3 laps to catch as many as possible, I had a mate in the car as you can have a passenger also. He tottaly enjoyed himself!!
Then we had multicar sprints in the arvo, again lined up 12 cars but let them go in groups of 6 at a time with a half lap head start. Tony and I started at the back of the second group and got through everyone in our group, I even managed to get through a few of the front group.
Next time out they started 10 cars at once with Tony and I at the back again, we picked off everyone and finished one-two
we got about 4 of them off the line, I darted for a gap straight up the middle and Tony tucked in behind me, was a very cool day. We had planned to run in the clubmans on the sunday but Reg's fuel pump failed, Tony cracked a header and I wore out my clutch in the last race.
So three happy boys loaded up and cruised in convoy home. We all had cameras but were having so much fun I only took a few of us setting up in our pit.

Sounds impressive, would have been great to see. The cars look great too. Pitty about the trouble that ended the event you the three of you, but thats racing I guess. Plus none of those problems sound too serious, so thats good.

sounds like it went bloody well. Was tony running the lexus v8??

Yeah that is racing! as you say, nothing serious at all. Tony was still running the Lotus engine so his is coming out next week anyway, it is so tight is there you have to pull the engine to get the headers out. My clutch was really to be expected anyway as we never changed it when we did the transplant, so a full season and all the practice it has taken was great really. Give me a chance to upgrade it a little.

was a bummer Tony forgot his incar cam as I wanted to pop it in mine for a sesson. Will try to get some footage next time out.

gutted i missed it Dan but im taking the flying fridge up to Tony's tomorrow to get her going again. Ice breaker next month with a 1 hour enduro!

It would have been great to have all four there! I know Reg was gutted that we are not going to make it next week....................maybe we can all get down next month?

Are you going to the Hampton hill climb on sunday?

was meant to be but over the weekend Tony and I think we've found that my computer is farked and stuffed if I have $1500 spare for a link or similar. Anyone have a secondhand link they want to sell me?

They ain't cheap eh? What does your computer run? You're on carbs otherwise aren't you?

it's a dta fast computer. computer is still good except not firing 1,4 but doing 2,3. I could send it back to UK to be fixed but I only have a month until Ice breaker meeting at Hamptons. Yep carbs so it really only needs to controll inition.

There must be some pretty cheap options out there for just ign control!

you would think so eh Zep but apparently not. Link said they're coming out with a new one in a couple of weeks and want $1300 for it! I asked why anyone would buy that over their atom and he said you wouldn't unless you had to a la sprint cars. I've been looking Zep but we're stuffed if we can find a cheap option. We're considering putting a distributor back on and sending mine away to be fixed!!

Should just get another preprogrammed DTA fast from the UK. Good exchange rate at the moment and will mean you don't need to piss around with a new loom or anything. Or do they not still sell that model or something?

Should be another 15-20hp or so over what you've got?
