hey guys i was just wondering where i could source a g200 from to put into my gem? iv done some research n those things bolt strait up in place of the 1600 or wold it be better to slap a g200 head and carby setup on the 1600 engine? (engine is having a hard time getting up to 100kph lol). and whose got some extractors for sale because i have a coby and a flow-master exhaust setup (I'm just sick if it sounding like a Subaru all the time even though it sounds grunty). thanks

theres a guy in hamz with a g200 rodeo for sale on trademe. he wants a grand for it. check ozgemini for extractors etc. cheap as Barry White over there but youll have to shell out for postage which isnt cheap. maybe check your engine mate sounds like it may need a tune

iv done some research n those things bolt strait up in place of the 1600 or wold it be better to slap a g200 head and carby setup on the 1600 engine? you'll actually lose power doing that because it will cause a drop in the compression ratio (engine is having a hard time getting up to 100kph lol). and whose got some extractors for sale because i have a coby and a flow-master exhaust setup (I'm just sick if it sounding like a Subaru all the time even though it sounds grunty). thanks I think you should just take the car to a decent mechanic and get them to diagnose the issue, set the timing, tune the carb and be done with it. Granted it isn't too difficult to do all of these things yourself, but a decent old vehicle mechanic will have it done in a couple hours and honestly, you won't believe the difference afterwards. I bet you'll be amazed at what a 1600 running well can do.

i have a twin sidedraught manifold for sale super rare part no less $400, i wouldn't get that ute for a grand you'll spend that again rebuilding the engine etc, thing is gem heads can get eaten out around the water galleries and the ute has a blown head gasket already, i recently got a head welded and planed at a charge of $250,
my advice rebuild the engine , get it balanced when you're doing it, get a cam grind, plane the head and bring the compression up to 9.0:1 upgrade the carb or run twins remove wheels over 14" in diameter
my coupe had none of the above done an auto and would live at 100 if i let it, all i did was drop the gear ratio by reducing the wheels rolling diameter, i think gemis are slightly tall at 3.9:1 where my chevettes 4.11 was far more responsive
