155hp at the wheels is EXTREMELY good for a Pinto - I suspect it's somewhat optomistic (or the chassis dyno is). the other thing that immediately caught my eye is the Watt's linkage - roll centre on the chassis/body is a big nono, however the stiff rear suspension may minimise the affect of the roll centre height changing. Many, many years ago I did some Clubmans races and dual sprints at the old Bay Park track at Tauranga with a stock Chevette (HD rear dampers only change) on skinny 155 tyres. The local lads were running well modded Mk1 and 2 Escorts with tweaked engines, lowered suspension and wide wheels and tyres. While they had it all over me in a straight line, I was able to easily out brake them and on the big sweeping 180, I was able to come from a couple of car lengths behind, overtake on the outside and get a couple of lengths ahead on the exit - then they'd overtake me, bugger, and I'd get under them under braking. IIRC, I was a couple of seconds slower than them - beat an RX2, though - driver wasn't that good, but we won't mention that bit, will we Thing is, the basic Chevette package is damned good, and anything you do to them just makes them a lot better - the only real reason Escorts get all the kudos is because, back in the day, DTV were funded by dealers and had sod all money for rallying, development and support but the Escorts were factory funded with huge budgets - heck, for one car at Monte Carlo, Ford spent more than the entire years' budget for DTV! When (if?) the bod' and budget get sorted, I'm looking forward to helping you wind them up
