anyone know the best way to correct play in steering. was told it would probably be a problem with the tie rods.

can be tie rods or rack ends normally,
get the car up on axle stands and get someone to turn the wheel back and forth,
and investigate every link,
will not be hard to diagnose and very easy to replace both these parts,
a wheel alignment on the front wheels after is also a good idea
