I found this interesting. A Chevette that isn't running 100% and has no wof fetched nearly $2000 in a $100 reserve auction! www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=236423382I wonder if they are actually increasing in value, if they are getting harder to find in tidy condition, or if these bidders were in fact just idiots? Discuss ;D

All the above! Sadly, it's probably destined for a 12A followed shortly afterwards by a big crash - hope not though!

I'd like to think so, but, Ive seen far superior chevettes go for alot less money, I think that guys whole rarity/affordable classic is what got people..
Check out the cheap hatch in chch, no wof, and not GL spec like that but still..

That one was particularly straight but alas without rego or atleast on hold rego it costs a fair wack. I don't mind people putting rotors in them I just hope that people look after them. it's funny on one hand I want people to realise these cars are more than a match for the escort of the day at a fraction of the cost BUT I'd rather they didn't sky rocket in cost either. By the by most of us have one now so it won't affect us too bad. These are starting to fetch better money overseas but above all remember that people either loved or hated the look of chevettes and on the most part they have a bad rep by people's perception that 'mum had one' or my grandma had one. To them it's a shopping cart. I say keep it this way and watch Dan and I make the escort boys look funny on the track.....watch this space.

I agree with you Bulldog. The issue is that they might just become the "next rwd car". If there are enough of them around, that is to say. Seen it happen with Ciferos, KE70s, EX lancers/Sigmas... none particularly beautiful classics.

Then I better get one It's happened with the early Gemini's which have gone up to around $5000ish, but I thought it might happen with the later models seeing as there are probably quite a few out there and they would be "cheap rwd" etc.

By the by most of us have one now so it won't affect us too bad. Most of us own more than one... ;D None of mine are Chevettes though (gem front halves... not sure if that will increse or decrese values once finished...) Why is it that people who own T-cars insist on multiple ownership or at least they want to (zep) or previously have but now have a house and can't have more than one (mikuni) ;D Defineitely know I shouldn't own so many if any... so feckn slack. Just glad I can finally afford to do something about them.
