To those of you with coilover rear ends...
Who are I think Craig and Dannyboy, can you tell me if the rear coil overs are originally designed for any particular car?
Also, what has been done in terms of bracing the shock towers, I can't imagine that as standard they would be able to take all the weight.
cheers

May have to go that route myself. For a wagon or hatch you've got to install a turret kit, as used with vertical dampers but, I would expect, in a rather more substantial form. I would expect they're made for the Chevette, with slightly different damping for different axle weights.

we don't run coiler overs in the chevette rears, we re-weld the coil plates onto the new diffs and install vertical strut towers for better geometry. Currently the best solution is to use sedan ones cut out and welded back in. You can make them. For the front again we use a cut out front strut plate from another chevette or make a plate similar and bolt them in from below instead of welding.

Thaty MG-B in my barn has had a coilover conversion kit added up front... if a similar kit could be added to a T-car the upper shock mount (the bits that look kinda like boobies (weird boobies that is...) would be redundant and could be cut away and plated over... the MG front suspension has similar upper lower arms like a T-car, the shock/spring goes tween the arms... this would be a mish but looks quite interesting... can take a pic if I think about it... this is obviously irrelevant to the Q but thought may be of some interest. If it were me being a tite bastard I'd figure out a way of cheaply manufacturing the componentry and finding a strut and spring to fit, the MG-B kit cost the chap who owns the car well over 1000 squid ex UK (pommie dollars! ouch!!)

Though I was meaning more like your coupe's setup. The rear coilovers (I'm SURE it had them) just seem to go up to the original shock mounting points. Have these been reinforced?
