Hey all,
Currently got Piazza springs in the rear of the wagon, even with 1 & 1/2 coils cut off its not quite low enough, and is way to soft, especially when I put tools etc in the back..
Anyone recommend a good brand of aftermarket springs that've got a stiffer spring rate for the rear, and lower - Im running 13's and shorter shocks also...
Cheers,Chris

All I know is there from a wagon there thicker than sedan 1's I've got some of them 2 pretty sure there stock. Decent gas shocks help with heavy loads.

i would also recommend commodore springs i had dobisport vl-vr commodore superlow springs in the
rear of my gemini and it was nice and firm and i had 8 people in it once on 17s and it didnt rub
at all. and they should only set u back bwt 150 if u know a mechanic that can get trade price.
u have 2 cut a few coils off tho so u can go as low as u like and itl still b stiff

Ive got some Pedders in the back of mine, they seem real low, without any cutting... cant speak for the stiffness just yet as I havent driven on them yet..If you want I can get the part number off them...

Chris, I just bought some superlow gemini springs for the back of my wagon. I will let you know how they go next weekend when I put them in. They are only 30% stiffer than standard apparently but thats about what I want because I want the back soft for the track and the front tight - also bought some Torana springs for the front as geminimad suggested. They are lowering springs but only lower a torana by 30mm so probably won't do much for the shuv. I choose them because they had 7.5 coils and the standard height torana uprated springs have 8 (spring rates are dependant on this and the wire guage). I went to autolign here in Hamilton, not sure if theres one down there but I find them very very good. They gave me an idea on what to look for then let me look through the catalogues myself. It appears the commodore springs are 14mm instead of 13mm so that would be the main reason they are stiffer. I almost went with them but being a lot longer I decided I would rather not have to cut the springs straight away so went for the softer gemini ones. Also, gemini wagons appear to have longer springs than the sedans, which is something I was not aware of. This could be the reason that West found his car is so low - I have actually noticed that wagons seem to go lowering on lowering springs than sedans but didn't know the reason for this - I thought they were just heavier haha. And.... Piazza's apparently have a lower spring rate than geminis and even chevettes I think, so this is why they are sh*t for use in t-cars. I've seen on a Piazza forum that people upgrade piazzas with Gemini springs and shocks haha. Oh yeah, the part number. I'm using Dobisports and they are C21-029V I think from memory but I can confirm that tomorrow when I pick them up. Actually, found the catalogue. There is also another that gives dimensions but I can't find that online unfortunately. www.dobinsonsprings.com/site/html/catalogues/coilspringcatalogue/coilfitmentlist.pdf

I'm using cut sle v8 Commodore springs in the rear (vc) and they're a lot better than the cut Gemini king springs I had before. bit stiffer too which is great when you have passengers but still seems to handle better as well. I'm wanting to try Torana stuff in the front later on.
This is on a sedan though.

brad, i used standard ride height dobisport torana 6 cylinder springs in the front and they actually lower it abit mine sat about an inch or so above the tyres on 17s and had no rubbing so im not sure how low the springs u have brought will go.

Thats a good price on the commy springs. I would definitely get them if I were you. I don't take passengers in my car and I'm after a lighter rate in the back, where as your car sounds like the stiffer rate would be more suited to your needs.
I have all the springs now, picked them up last week, had a wedding in the weekend up in whangarei but should be able to get those springs in after work one night so I will report back here with pics of the height she's sitting at with the low toranas in the front.
