Just creating this thread as a sort of diary entry (henceforth its in off-topic as it probably wont help anyone). Also I'll be modifying this one post so I wont be accused of being a "Post Hore" hahaha. If you find this thread interesting, feel free to comment back; good, bad, helpful, insightful, suggestions, whatever

P.S: Moderators, alert me and feel free to trash this thread If you feel it is inappropriate.

About a couple of months ago I obtained a 4ZE1 powerplant (always wanted one too) from my uncle in exchange for a box of piss. It was in moderate to relatively poor condition - "Been sittin there for quite a while man, you sure you want it?" "F*ck yeah man, I'll get her goin!" *drink*
Got home and immediately ripped it off the back of the Kingswood and started work on it. More interested in the core of the engine, I pulled off the warped cylinder head and stuck it aside (IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET IT FIXED FOR A GOOD PRICE OR IF ANYONE'S GOOD WITH A DIE GRINDER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW). The block was in great condition inside, however the pistons, rods and crank had seen better days.
I still haven't seen to the cylinder head yet, most of my spare time has been occupied with the block and its moving parts.
So far its looking pretty good, had a lot of rigorous cleaning and polishing inside and de-corroding (if that's even a word) on the outside since.

I also have a taller geared differential out of a 3 speed auto TG Gem sitting there on my garage floor. If anyone knows anything about converting it into an LSD, sing out

Go to these guys.

Tell them you want the head checked, planed and cleaned up. Also, say you want a raise in compression to something decent (12:1 ) and the ports cleaned up and enlarged where necesary.

Then go to these guys.

And say you will be running carburetion (or throttles and a/m ecu) and say you want the most aggresive cam grind possible for your engine and ask for any advice they may have.

Thats pretty much what I would do (and I did do it, just not getting cams yet).

Thats the first step to a bangin reliable NA engine. That head plus a decent rebuilt bottom end with ARP bolts through it should result in a reliable 200hp engine (and a very fast gemini).

Yeah man, until you have a car with 100hp+ at the wheels, you don't realise that something like 150rwhp is acatully pretty freakin' fast. A 200hp 4ZE1 will have bucketloads of torque and be an absolute monster

Oh, and you can buy brand new 4ZE1 heads too. Might be a good idea?

And remember that the G series engines have square exhaust ports where as the 4 Series have round.

Also I wouldn't bother with trying to run the standard nikki from a G161z on it!!!

Bugger, gotta spend more money lol. I saw a brand new 4ZD1 head on TradeMe, will that fit to the E1? I wouldn't actually consider it because i think the compression ratios are different

They may have different shaped ports but they'll still bolt on the same way, might just take a bit of modifying. But once again I'd only do that if I'm out of options and/or money lol

I know, the Nikki is a pretty crap idea really but nothing's impossible. The carb that came with it is so f*cked I cant tell what make and model it is. If someone can tell me the carburetor make and model that came out with the 4ZE1 that'll be much appreciated

We didn't get the rodeo's injected here so I've been led to believe. They were still the 4ze1 though just carbi. Isuzu troopers and Mu's came here with injected 4ze1's.

The twin carb manifold from the G-series will fiiit!

Ok but will the manifold support two bigger carbs though? Its a much bigger engine so I'm gonna need much bigger carbs...

It'll suit any IDF downdraughts, so yeah, 40s, 42s, 45, 48, 50, 52 as long as they're downs they should fit. If not, I'm sure an adaptor plate isn't hard tpo make,.
