Just vin it. The body looked quite good. Dosnt cost that much to vin and then your car is worth alot more cash when it comes time to sell.

Agreed. If you are putting original gear back in (gemini engine) it is very easy to do. I think wildplumdx did it on his gemini, or maybe he did the dodgy? Anyway, it costs around $400 from what I know, but that includes new wof and 1 year reg.

Anyway, it costs around $400 from what I know, but that includes new wof and 1 year reg. yeah its $150 for a vin and a wof. Then you get an Mr2A form which allows you to register your car. Just have to register withen 2 years of it being vinned. Been finding all this out with my honda Motorbike. It only takes em like one hour to do a vin man, so the inspection aint that hardout. You just drop it off in the morning and pic it up in the evening.

Does anyone know if thats the same cost for a modified car (I realise you'd have to pay for the Cert plate ontop, how much is that ?)
Cheers,Chris

I think it gets abit complicated there aye. Because they cant issue a cert without a vin number aye? And the compliance guys couldnt give you the wof with modifications...catch22. Prob go on hotrod forums and ask those fullas or just ring up a compliance centre or a guy who does certs

You can do it, its just alot of work. It all depends on the vin people being happy with what has been certified by the certifier.
A mate of mine reregd a kp starlet with a 12a rotary in it. It was debumpered with rx2 lights and everything. He had to provide pictures of all modifications, certified engeer certificates for the fabrication work and everything. He had a prick of a time and he took afew months and several attempts. It makes it really difficult revinning cars if they are modified drastically. If they are near standard it seems very easy. The only thing they focus on is rust repairs. If you are doing a big repair or have done one, they will ask for before photos and photos while the area was stripped back.
A cert is around the $400 mark, depending on the amount of stuff you want.

Yeah they hate rust aye! heard stories of them ripping out all the interior, trim, etc in search of it. Also you will need mint seatbelts and mint brake lines. You wont get away with stuff they might overlook in wof inspections but basicaly its the same criteria. They just look harder ;D

When I repaired a car for a VIN once, we pretty much made a floor pan out of bog, sprayed some sealent over it and they didn't even realise. There was also a fender with a massive bit shaped out of bog too!
