G-series all the way bro, g180/g200 bolt in easy peasy and the possibilities are endless with these engines! Get some efi on there, chuck a turbo on and your away, far cheaper and much less effort then any other conversion. Cant look past it man.

Um theres alot of info on all these conversions on www.ozgemini.com/index.php. Bassically no g200s came turbo. The piazza motors are g200z (xl piazzas) and twincam g200w's (xe piazzas). An engine called a 4zc1 which is a different engine range but kind of similar to the g2's, came out in turbo form (2.0L Single cam turbo). These 4z engines also came in 2.3L and 2.6L but non-turbo and all seem to be about the same amount of effort to fit. A Carbureted g200 also came out in rodeos and the like and will be a staight bolt in but the others require mods to the fuel system and afew other little things which you can find by researching (its pretty much all on this site anyway i think). Hope that helps.

If you want your car to go pretty hard, and you want it all to bolt in easy, I would go for the 4ZE1 2.6 litre Rodeo engine. It's ultra torquey if you're into your skids, and with EFI already done, you shouldn't have too much of a problem turboing it once you get sick of what you've got.
Other than that, you could rebuild a brutal G series. People have pushed over 200hps with the G200s, I don't see why this can't be done again, just need to get the right bits.
4ZC1-t turbo engines came out of some YB piazzas, but they are pretty hard to find. If you do manage to score one, this is also pretty good. Will bolt right in with 110kw to boot.
It's crazy, Gemini's have a hugest selections of engines which easily can go into them, I don't know why so many people start off with the ideas of SR20s and Rotarys, or even things like 4AGEs.
Think about it this way... have you done an engine conversion before? If not, stick to something pretty basic to start unless you have a whole lot of cash to throw at someone to make it go. Personally I'd go for the 2.6, easier to insure than the turbo and it still goes pretty nuts.

Heard wrong on two occasions then. Gutted. The only twincams were the g161w, g180w and g200w. Chances are you will only find the g200w in nz and the came out in piazzas. 4zc1-t engines also came out in piazzas and are only single cam, but are turbo. Thats the only turbo engine.

g161w? I didnt think they made one? The 2.6 is a 4ze1 (not a g series)it doesnt bolt in either, i cant remember exactly but it requires a few small things to be done( most likey sump and crossmember issues). G200z is found efi in piazza and carbi in the rodeo, they come up in the t&e and on tm. Id be keen to find a g180, only seen one around in my time though.

To get the 2.6 in you need the 4ZC1 sump as it clear the X member properly. You may also need to bash the firewall a little to fit the dizzy but that's basically it. Anything else is just a bit of fiddling. Since it's your first one, find a G200, there are a few floating around and get it rebuilt/rebulid it yourself to better specs. Raise the comp a bit, do some head work (larger valves, double valve springs, port and polish and a mild cam) and chuck on a 32/36 or bigger carb if you want. Then all you need are extractors and an exhaust and you're away. Will drive pretty nicely.
