one of the band guys from barn day out is a head machinist...lives out west assume he works out that way too. He took away a head that i stripped ages ago and has bead blasted the alloy to a new finish, planed and tested it etc, re assembled it and is going to take it home to port and polish it. He hasnt told me how much yet but reckons itll be a fraction of what his work would charge and also mentioned to me "...if you know anyone else who needs some head work done im always looking for cashies..." Anyway point is i cant vouch for them being the best because i dont know but it sounded like he'd been @ it a number of years and that he knew what he was talkn about. If you are interested i should be speaking to him again soon... he needs measurements from my manifolds to grind the ports!! Forgot to get his number last nite because i was totally blazed!! Such a good party...and no hangover this morn just 4 a change!!

Ha! classic...that's who I've been dealing with since I first wrote that post. We've been through a block, two sets of secondhand pistons all of which were not re-useable. No worries I had spare block and you can buy new piston sets for these bad boys.
The guy who owns the place (Erol) knows Murray at Webber specs and he has heaps of experience with these motors (as Erol already did). So we're still working out what needs to be done and how much they're going to do for me.

See if they know Dale Howell (I think that's how it's spelled) - he's an experienced race (ex Crowe) engine builder that's done the Chev 307 piston conversion. a really good guy but last I heard he was working in PNG or thereabouts. If he is back in the country, I'd recommend him.

Erol also knows Dave (I think that's his name) from Franklin Cams, so they'll be able to sort you out your cam/s? pretty easily with lift measurements and stuff. I didn't have to do anything!!
Murray told me he had a 200hp G180 in a race car back in the day!!
