Has anyone done this before? A dude has asked me to help him get a G161z into his Chevette. Do I need anything apart from the engine? He seems to think that it'll slot onto the Chevette engine mounts, alhtough I'm dubious about this.
If anyone has done this, can I get a quick guide?
Cheers.

Theres no reason why it won't slot onto the chevette engine mounts. You use gemini g161 mounts on a g200w to get it in to a chevette, Id say the motor would sit fine as far as forward/back goes also. You'll need to make a new gb xmember and the gemini drive shaft may work, but I think you'd need to change the universal to a chevette one. And, he would need to run an extra fuel line if he wanted to use the standard carb as chevettes don't have returns. Thats all I can think of

Oh, I was so worried about explaining it right I forgot the most important part. Bro, if your putting a g161 in ATLEAST get a g200 or something. Why do something and get it ok, if you can do almost the same thing, and get it way better.

Yeah, I was just saying G161 for the hell of it. I have no idea what engine the dude is using. Sounds like nothing too hard then. I might go out and have a look.

Hiya, yea Im trying to get the g161z into my chevette wagon. The engine mounts were all sweet and it dropped right in. The gemini 5spd was about twice the length of the chevette 4spd and in turn the driveshaft was completely different ay (both in length and in number of splines). Also I found that the g161z diddnt agree with the chevette swaybar - the sump sits on top of it I decided to go for this swap cuz it looked like it would be a cheap enough option over the already tired 1256cc I managed to pick up a 85 gem with a 5spd and 84000ks on the clock which had had a priddy major prang - only set me back $120 for the complete car However after buying the gem I went to australia with the whanau for two weeks and when I came back, my flatmates had got us evicted! So I had about 12hours to get the gem off the property :/ luckilly we'd already pulled the engine+gbox out, but the diff, driveshaft, brakes, swaybar etc went to pickapart with the car as I didnt have anywhere to store it
