Wreckers mate. Fronts will be easy and should be cheap. Most imports are refitted with nz spec belts which multi fit. Almost every set of genuine chevette belts any of us can flick you will be faded which to the letter of the law us unWoFable. Rears will be harder... have thought of fitting retracting belts but never got that far.

New it is then I think... Gay. Definitely have to go with new in the rear anyway and due to the mounting position I cant put a retractable in it. My Black belts had faded to a pale brown colour. I had contemplated dying them as I am Dutch but I am also a WOF inspector so couldn't bring myself to do it.

WTF! Damned fool idea in the first place as you'd have no idea how effective they'd be in an accident - could already have been stressed or damaged. Unless you put no value on your life, or those of your passengers, they're one of the things you should always buy new, just like crash helmets!

Yes and no... ive towed cars with old faded and frayed seat belts... they are tough as! The stitching is generally protected from tge the sun

I've towed cars with a length of garden hose - doesn't mean I'd consider that suitable for preventing injury or death... Remeber, when towing there may be as little as 100kg load on the belt but a 100kg man in a 20G impact will be putting 2000kg of load on the belt - i tonne for the lap and one for the shoulder...
I hope to be clearing the storage before long, Tim, if you want to pick a door up - deferred payment OK.

Haha I did say contemplated... just very briefly. The idea didnt sit well with me, or the thought of putting my family in the car with belts I dont trust, hence im putting new ones in it.
