Has anyone tried this or just didn't bother and swapped it for a gem tank?

I drilled and soldered in a line for the main pickup and was planning on using the original feed for the return. The only real issue then is that it's not possible to use a filter on the pickup end.
IMPORTANT! Even an empty fuel tank can hold ignitable fumes - if doing any hot work on one I STRONGLY recommend washing it out several times with a strong mix of detergent - not forgetting to rinse thoroughly as well. Then, if possible, leave off any caps, etc, to act as a vent and reduce the pressure if there should be an internal ignition.
If a Gem' tank is suitable, and fits, may be a better idea to use that, or a fuel cell if budget allows.

I fitted an in-tank pump. cut a hole in the top of the tank (where the round indent is on top)brazed a return line into the plate that screws over the hole. Voila. works well for EFI

Got another idear to drill a hole (in where the fuel level sender is) and use a bit of thread tape and a nut, think its easiest without taking out the tank. Ill post up some pics when I'm done.

should work - however
IMPORTANT, a fuel tank can explode if there are fumes still in it and there's an ignition source and people have been badly injured, and even killed, by them - so be careful (or make arrangements to leave the car to me in your will... ;-) )

using the level sender plate should work well. just make sure it's well sealed - nothing worse than fuel leaking inside the car. will make it a nightmare to get a cert too

Being pedantic BUT those fittings can crack and fail when exposed to vibration so ensure the fuel line is well supported where it comes off the fitting.
Also I suggest loctite on the nut

Works pumping out 5-8 psi constant flow now, before it would barley pump any fuel. These fittings are super Barry Whiteing tight
