New ones aren't that expensive and make a big difference - if you can find them at a reasonable price, I'd recommend the KYB rally dampers.

Dinsdale in hamilton car isnt driveable as have no rear shocks, would prefer secondhand as a will be just pushing the bushes out of the front shocks and putting my rear bushes in to make it capitive, have commodore lowered monroe shocks which are 580 fully extended need around 500mm to make it captive

Get the current ones shortened? If I was at the machine shop at the mo I could do it for you or have it done, doh!

was thinking about getting them shortened but autolign reckon you cant shorten that type of shock, i have seen that pontiac a couple of times

Has anyone recently brought new front shocks for a chevette gemini, If so where had a quote from autolign of 210+Gst which seems abit steep, have sorted my rear shocks now my fronts are starting to knock.

There're dampers (shock absorbers are technically the springs) and there're dampers - budget may be around $150 a pair up to thousands for top end 4 way adjustables. What do you want from them - as I've said before, I rate the KYB rally ones highly, if you can find some. Don't forget repco and the other auto' parts stores and some wheel/tyre shops may also have a line.
