2.3 slant 4 wanted

Hi. Looking out for a 2.3 slant 4 engine, and also a suitable 5 speed gearbox as well, preferably with suitable bellhousing/converter. Ideally as a complete setup but keen to see if anyones got anything they want to part with, or if anyone knows of someone who i could approach - preferably in the south island but beggars cant be choosers.

Same goes for any heads (e.g. big valve singlecam), manifolds, mounts etc to suit this engine.

Ive located at least 6 stock CF bedford engines locally, all of uncertain condition, but would like to see if theres anything recently running or had some mild work done to it, or has a 5 speed attached!

you could try contacting bronc, he was playing around with some slant 4s a while back.
As for the CF engines, basically the same and, IMO, if you have the funds, may be worth picking them up - the quality of the castings varies a LOT! I'd rebuilt engines that were on their 2nd rebore with a couple of re-rings in between that had only done a little over 80k kms due to an extremely soft bore and another engine that had less than a thou' bore wear after a similar mileage.
Similarly the head castings and especialy the cam; housing casting was suceptable to warping and I came upon one head casting that had actually been machined with a curve in it - mus t have been domne when very hot osomething, as it was like that when it was put on the head!
Distributor wear and being bent is also a problem - the later ones had electronic ignition that helps.
