Temuka!
Recaro's will fit with a lil work I put some in my gemini, and have put Porsche Recaro's into my Chevette, the chevette was by far the easier one to do. you can put them on from basically just enlongating the front mounts on the rails. the rears bolted straight on!

Bought these sweet porsche 911 recaros awhile back, degreased, fabric softened at work, in work time  They're leather, recon it'd be worth buying some nugget and cleaning them up that way? trying to have a period highback look - dont want recaro fishnets or anything... Wouldnt believe it unless you saw it yourself, but the chevette rails bolted straight onto the rear porsche seat mounts, the fronts were about 5mm diagonally out.. Drivers seat however had alot more work involved due to the electric adjusters..

spacers on original seat rails... WoF chaps have never said a thing. if I were you I'd keep eyes out for a complete parts car... though location is always the problem, my ones have always been relatively local. if you would like to investigate freight for mine no worries, I don't want much for them... but freight to the sth island can be the killer! otherwise practically any seats can be fit in if you don't want an original spec car, wasn't sure what your plans are resto/custom etc or just piecing together something cheap to run about in?! if going for newschool buckets from lets say a honda or something like that pays to check height when installed... I have some on Chevette rails and when put in the car my head touches roof due to newer seats being solid foam and old seats being sprung so even though they appear the same height the older seats dip down a fair bit when you sit down! anyway if your into the chevette post up some pics, handy place for anyone building one up, good to hear of yet another being saved from the scrap heap!

Oh Im Chch by the way, after having the recaro fishnets in the Gemini, I'd be pretty confident that I could make them fit the same as the porsche seats, as they mount very very similar

Ther equirement is that the mounting points on the vehicle be unchanged - seems that it's OK to use adaptors or modify the rails, themselves.

ok thanks for that im just looking at making the car more custom but as it has no motor or box im not to shure what engine to use i have heard you can do a bit of work to the standard 1256 to make it go a bit better? or does anyone know of a semi easy conversion?

Good thing about the Chevette is that it's got a fairly generous engine bay and reasonable sized transmission tunnel, so there's a wide range of engines that have found their way into them, with a bit of work, even more... There are quite a few people here that have done the Isuzu repower, in various forms and I know of Mazda 12A and 13B, Rover V8, Ford kent and Pinto, Nissan engines, Toyota engines, Ford Essex (V6), Ford and Chev' small blocks and I expect there are many more. Doh, and the GM 20 XE, ETOTEC and LN engines. Biggest problem may be the diff', but they seem to live with up to 200hp, if not abused.
