Sth Ak someplace, me and Brad met this geezer at 4&R Ardmore Showdown on Sunday... Also had some GC older fella offer me a small pile of parts from his dirt track Chevette... glass and a few other bits. Small world, he bought his doner Chevette shell from Tony Lynch!

Im based in Pukekohe. I spoke to Tony at the 4 and Rotary Nationals and got in touch with him again later on but he only has race engine at the moment. Not my cup of tea. Hope to get all my rust repaired so I can start look for a engine. At the moment I got a factory 1200cc sitting in my garage, I dont even know if is working or not, but Im keen to upgrade a little. Any ideas? Cheers

Best cheap option is a G200z fitted with a G161z inlet and carb, or upgrade carb to Weber. If you are good with electrics you could keep the G200z injection manifold...
There is a twincam version G200w but these are much rarer and hard to get parts for... and obviously more expensive.
If just after a slight power increase you could just get a G161z (Gemini engine)
Then theres the option of something modern which will always come with many difficulties such as modifying sumps, if FWD finding a RWD Gearbox to suit, will it fit at all?!
From memory you wanted something you can drive daily... The G200z or G161z are the easiest and cheapest options. There is also a G180z, all pretty much the same thing... G161z= 1.6L G180z= 1.8L G200z= 2.0L
As I told you I have a G200z complete but will need the bottom end done at least and a G180z in parts... I don't mind which one I keep, the other I'm thinking of doing a Turbo Conversion on in the future.
I also have several 5spd gearboxes... You would also need a Gemini sedan diff which bolts straight in with some minor modification.
Check thru other members cars and see what you like and ask them about it.
Look forward to seeing some of your progress, will be cool seeing a Brazilian twist on a Kiwi Chevette!

Also there is a member 'aninja' based in Manurewa with a Chevette wagon with a G200z conversion all finished... just waiting on parts to rebuild his altenator. This would be a good one for you to look at...

Also theres the option of rebuilding the stock motor... Gordo will tell you all about this one, apparently you can get a lot more power out of the wee motor!

Thanks mate. Your G200z sound really good. Lets keep that in mind. I will put some more pics of my progress soon. Let me know how much you want for your motor. Cheers

motor and 5spd probably about $250... you will need to get it checked over, don't know it may be fine- I was having problems and wanted to convert my wagon back to G161z (business vehicle) so never bothered having problems diagnosed. The carb was def leaking but if I were you I'd buy a Weber adaptor plate and go down that road... You will then need to track down a sedan diff and if I don't have one a Gemini driveshaft to suit. May know where a sedan diff is... will ask if you decide to go ahead... (the guy is old and dieing... won't bother him until I need to) Let me know if you would like this, need money at the moment but may not later so my mind may change. (was going to keep it lol)
