hey u know that massive rod thing that comes down in the middle of the front shock which mounts the bump stop ? reakon you could cut that to gain extra travel ? i'm keen too coz gem keep bottoming out on it and its metal on metal not cool! i'm gonna cut it ay cant see why its even there to be honest!

I don't think you should cut it because I think its there to stop the balljoints from pivoting too far.
If you were to cut it anyway, drill/grind out the spot welds that hold that cone in place and remove it from the car completely. Then try jacking the suspension right to max travel and see how it all looks. ie the balljoints etc and see what it will now stop on to make sure no damage will result. As far as I'm aware bump stops aren't just there to keep the car high. They are put in that point for a reason. Putting smaller bumps in is one thing but competely removing the mounting point for them is something you want to really think about and do right.

Yea fully ay, I was thinking about doing this, but to do it properly you need to change the angle the ball joints mount on, coz if they bottom out (ie. wheel goes up too far) and get too much load they just fuk out and at high speed that wouldnt be pretty... Im gunna go for my cer once its all done and if I get failed on that then Ill be on that mish, thinkin about making up some custom upper/lower arms to suit!!!
But my advice would be dont rangi it if you dont know what you're up to!!

nah think i'll leave it sounds way too dodgey to do it i'll just run it on bumpstops it aint that bad of a ride really ! or if i got decent shocks it might not bottom out on no bumpstops like it does on the standy shocks :S

yea that willl help heaps, I had valiant fronts in mine, then some l300 van ones, they pretty hard. try getting some small ( like 10mm thick) solid rubber bumps and put them where the original ones were, thats what I was gunna try first... have seen them for sale somewhere, might have been a lowrider/airbag website!!!

is it sweet if u run say 400mm shocks at a ride height of 300mm ? wont flog them out sitting 100mm lower then there max height will it ? or should i get the right height ? prolly buy brand new ones

As far as I'm aware that should be alright. The shocks don't have a normal spot where they sit, like you say, it just means they will be operating in a different area than usual. All it is is valves and nuts getting pushed through fluid or something along those lines after all. Anyway, I may be wrong there but thats how I see it. A lowered car will wear shocks down faster anyway, just because of the harder riding over the bumps etc

If your front standard shocks arent bottomed out (which they shouldnt be) just sit it on the ground at normal height, put a line on the shock where it sits (where outer dudt cover sits on the body of the shock) take it out and either measure it or thake it to a shock place and tell them you want a shock to suit, the line will give you a static length, normally midway on the travel, Or just tell them you want one 100mm (or how evermuch youve lowered it) long..
failing that I can get you the part number of my fronts if you like, they heavy duty L300 van for memory.
