haha nice. Yeah they are great motors. Ultra reliable and would produce so much torque you'd have a real weapon on your hands. I'm not quite sure about the long stroke, or having such a heavy lump of steel in the front of a small/light car, but certainly worth a look if straight line speed is what you're after. Especially after reading the tuning guide that zep (?) posted a little while back.

Yeah id just rape it for the injection manifold ect far better than the pooey piazza ones I have. I like the G series engines the best.

Hardout aye ;D screw that nuts. Anybody got any ideas on what engine i should run? ive decided rotarys are expensive.... Just want something cheap and reliable. Isuzu something, but which one? only real requirement is that it outperforms the 1256

Mate thats not a requirement, everything out performs a 1256 lol Umm.. do an ecotec bro ;D expensive, unreliable, less performance than a similar japanese engine. Mint. Nah but once I suss out exactly how to do it and make the mistakes etc I think you'd be able to get one in for considerably less than what I'm about to pay. Other than that, just rebuild a g200z with a mint high comp head, silly cams, massive side drafts.. and a box or 10 of piss Would be awesome and not too much to spend if you find a good pace. My 1256 head was planed, crack welded up, valves ground and put back together for $280 all up. I reckon you could get some pretty good head work done there for less than a grand aye.

nah nah nah, i just want a cheap engine to bolt in there with a nice 4/5 speed gearbox. Will need diveshaft but thats all the work i wanna do. What a good place to look for these parts? geminis? piazza? rodeo? dont want turbos or twin cams.
This will be a semi-temporary solution untill i have the funds for a nice 13b.
Should probably go onto one of those ausi sites with all the gemini nuts

We pretty much always talk about this stuff man, where have you been? But sweet then. Do the above mentioned swap, with a g200z (single cam, rodeo/piazza engine - you can bolt on a g161 or rodeo carb manifold if you get an efi one to avoid having to run injection lines etc) but don't do any of the mods that I said. The engine will bolt in and if you are using that gemini diff you won't even need to modify the driveshaft. The only mod will be cutting a whole in the tunnel (using a piazza remote gearbox may solve this problem) and you will also need to fabricate a new gearbox xmember, as the chevette mounting points are in a different spot to the gemini ones I believe.

Awesomeness sounds like fun. Yeah i usually skip all the bits about geminis, isuzus and what not. Guess i should of payed better attention lol. Might have sussed a piazza lsd rear end so thats the first peice of the puzzle. Prob put the center of that into my gemini diff. Unless they are the same width then idono.

There are three different versions of the Piazza rear axle, with at least two different diff's. IMO, the one to go for, if possible, is the Lotus turbo one - LSD, 4 link, vented rear discs and I can't remember the other reason, it's also a 3.9:1 ratio.

I just want the lsd. If i can get this one for free/cheap then ill grab it otherwise its gona be open diff all the way. Unless i start making some power then it'll be locked all the way ;D

I dont think that 4link/5link diff is the best option because you have to get mounts ect made up it doesnt just bolt in like the tourqe tubed diff. So if your going to that much trouble you might aswell get a more common stonger diff like a Hilux and put that in. Been looking at these super cheap and may help in my turbo efforts. www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=KC5385&CATID

Unless i start making some power then it'll be locked all the way ;D The Lotus diff' has a separate carrier, like the 9" Ford and is quite different from the other diff's which are fitted to the axle housing and are accessed through a rear cover. However, I do believe there are a very few LSDs for the latter diff' - good luck finding one.
