I ran a 28/36 on my Chevette. Was rebuilt/rejetted and tuned for the engine perfectly by Murray at Weber Specialties. From what I had been told, this carb was the perfect upgrade for the standard 1256cc.
There were decent mid range power gains so it was definately a little more torquey but if your really looking for large power gains I would do an engine swap as the little 1256 is gutless as Barry White.
Oh yea also removed the choke cable as it was unnecessary with the carb. Also had to create a bracket to change the angle of the accelerator cable. Check out my build thread for ideas.

its in the jetting, as Tai said his was set up for 1256, not like 1600 is a hell of a lot biggerer... pretty sure the Webers on the 2L Pinto engines are 32/36 webers... tech geeks confirm?

You can happily run the 28/32 up to about 1600cc. i had a 32/36 on a nissan Z20 and it ran better than the original carb. It was originally off a cortina 2L

if its a road engine with mild upgrades (cam, valve springs, skim etc) you'll quite like the 28/36, i ran one on my first g161 in a chuv conversion, it was a cool little carb as so many different chokes and jets were availible and it could be set up for any application, just watch for a sloppy accelerator shaft when purchasing.
they have a cool little mechanical secondary that if tuned to hit with your cam will result in plenty of warm fuzzies when the rev's get up.
