New car, New plan, and a new email address, so a new user name aswell. hi all- im Andrew, a.k.a gemininja. im an autosparky apprentice from south auckland. this is my 3rd T-car, a rusty chevette that, all going well, will soon be a fun little rally car. cage, g161, piazza diff, hydrolic handbrake, suspension etc.. ill hopefully be doing most the work myself. and hopefully it wont cost me too much. ive guessd at 5k to get it all up and running including certs. that, however, depends on the rust... boot, battery, and washer bottle areas have bad rust. both floors have dodgey repairs that are rusting through. I havent decided yet if i can be botherd sorting the rust or affording someone to do it for me, if not ill scrap anything too far gone and keep all the good bits. it already has a g161, gem 4speed, and piazza diff. i just need to sort out a gearbox x-member and exhaust to get it running, plus a few other bits, and the rust.. any panelbeaters out there, ill be happy to stick your name on the beast if youl sponser me a deal ^^ ill also need a cage..

one of the most important things in a unibody racecar is the floorpan. yours looks a bit past its use by. Still useable with a lot of welding, or good parts for the next body. the chevette has a few week points which need re-inforcing before racing. mainly the rear suspension mount points. I welded mine fully right through. ties subframe to suspension point. I also have extended my panyard arm to a lower position (body end). This helps with my dirttrack use turning right. will rip out of floor with out seam welding. Acceletator hinge(plastic) will break, so plan on building a metal replacement. Standard linkages waste a lot of movement. this can be improved. These cars where built very cheaply standard, but with a few small improvements will go hard!!
