yeh 175/50s would be sweet. nah it shouldnt rub. car can sit on bumps at the mo without rubbing, just needs a gentle tickle of the guard lips. might get smaller tyres when money allows. Also want to keep a decent rolling diameter so im not ringing it out at 100k. Is bad enough already haha
also, 77vette, what size are the tyres in the pick you posted in here? cheers

trust me bro. i had 175-60's on the same diameter wheels and they rubbed the rear guards. thats on stiff as nuts dobi springs not cut chevette ones. car wasnt really that low either. on those balloons you will have massive issues eh. surprised the shop even put those tyres on.

Must have been a different offset to what hunted is using.

yeh those are 175/50
maybe 175/60, or similar, maybe better for a road car tho. 175/50 makes the car real low and Barry Whites with speedo calibration hardout lol

before after looks a gazillion times better. its about 100mm at the cross member, with ballon spec 185/65s. next is to track down some shorter shocks also need to do some work on front bumpstops/bumpstop tower. it may/may not be sitting on bumps

lol. if you go over any bumps etc at speed the suspension will bottom out. you need stiffer shorter shocks at a bare minimum. youll need a cert too if you wanna cut the bumpstops

Looking awesome man, bumps cut in the front will 100% be sweet for wof, providing you do it in a tidy manner. I've even talked to a couple of wof places about it before and they had no issue, providing there was still enough material in there to provide a suitable function if bumpstop contact is made. You could need a cert for the lowering though, looks like it would be fairly close to 100mm, ie attention from cops etc. Its also always good to have springs very captive, so try for those shorter shocks sooner rather than later. Theres a number of threads on here about what you can use, or how to measure something up.

if theyre cut springs im pretty sure you wont get a wof or a cert eh. just get dobi's or kings. get gemini ones though as they dont make them for chevettes. 300 bucks-ish should get you front and rears depending on who you know - or how much you can bullnuts! lol
not a wet blanket bro just keeping it real. safety first and all that nuts

cheers brad and zep. Yeh shorter shocks are first priority. I know a bunch of people are anti cut springs etc, but I dont really see the issue if they are captive. My cortina had cut springs and got wofs, just had shortened shocks to suit. I understand that performance wise they arent the best, but this thing is no rocket ship, and I dont drive it like one. Its pissing with rain today so will get in the garage and take some measurements and hopefully find some shocks that suit.
will give a few days to fully settle then measure height. hopefully no less than 100mm

chevette springs are ok to cut. Have also been given wofs on cut springs. not even painted yellow haha
of course custom springs are the probably the best option but i have seen circuit racing cars(low budget race cars haha) using cut springs without death or injury
just dont cut them with gas, or anything else that may heat them up too much

you might get a wof from someone but they are still illegal and if the cops pull you up on it youre Barry Whiteed. green sticker and a fine. will affect your insurance too being an unsafe vehicle. Barry White i sound like a old fart! lol

are cut springs themselves actualy illegal?
surely you can cert them etc if you have sorted shocks and bumpstops etc to suit. I mean they are still safer than driving around on airbags or hydraulics surely?
