Bought head and inlet mani/carb home... went to put mani on head only to find the wrong gaskets in the ACL head kit I got from taistorm a year ago... wasn't impressed fortunately had just enough gasket card left to chop my own out :-) Have a few other bits to do from home with any luck it is done tomorrow and I can carefully begin putting the old pregnant dog back together. Will upload some pics...

As a surprise a mate did some air brushing on underside of bonnet. Unfortunately a reaction happened when the airbrushing was clear coated... yet to see how it looks : ( Notice this bonnet has had central gusset removed. Was a mint-ish bonnet I have had wrapped in cardboard since I bought the red gem... without realising it had been chomped on the underside. Tristan did a great job adding some pieces in so you can barely tell anything is missing.

After repairing sill rust and thinking the welder could be put away Tristan found this... naughty words were undoubtedly screamed at high volume!

Front valance panel Troy bent up for me some time ago. Tristan finished it, thicker steel so shouldn't deform as easy as factory crappola. grill in primer. I already had it plastic welded above the right headlamp where it was cracked thru.

And some pics of the sweet sweet panels... nice and straight now after weeks of mishes. Apparently the drivers door alone had approx 30 dents...

Was painted Saturday. Spent a fair bit of time there today... we fuct up royally and lost the timing chain down in the front cover. Got expert opinion that front cover unbolts without having to remove sump. This info turned out to be wrong.... mate of mine spent more than 3hrs trying to pry it off. Gutted. Engine needs to come out now. Anyway got front and rear screens in, booster and master cyl , steering column, pedal box and half of the other door/window seals. Look forward to getting the bloody thing driving again!

@ Tim, you have to drop the sump and pickup off to remove the timing cover. Dont piss ass around and do it in place - it will only cause you problems later with Sump leakage & also possibility of incorrect fitment of the oil pickup to the oil pump - been there done that..

Still away working on waiheke island. My uber staffer is chipping away at it. Has tidied up some hideous wiring bolted up box, and reinstalled starter and altenator. Gee whiz there's still loads to do!

Well failed to get it done for the Oldschool leadfoot cruise... lucky I had a spare! The green wag had the wide steels bashed on it late the night before and a quick wash. She performed great, probably the longest trip its had : ) Anyway red car drove home last night! Still bumperless and sitting a mile in the air on stock springs : / Also has temporary grill fitted... need to get TE grill painted still, is sitting at the shop in primer. Just having it painted black. The bumpers are having timber inserts made up to replace the rubber filler strips which are knackered. These will be stained and oiled and hopefully look pretty sweet/different. Also still needs a final buff before final judgment of quality of finish... bonnet looks pretty poohs so thinking that may well go matt black! Kinda ran out of red when painting it... 4L wasn't enough when you consider theres a few extra square metres of side panels and also the engine bay probably should have just been done in black... however feck it, was a cheap job and I have gotten a lot more than what I paid for so am still a rather happy chappy! Pics to follow... need to take some!
