The red top is going in from the opel. Albeit with some tweaks and the cam wheels are zinc plated and prurdy now. Cams to follow later on.

how much of a mish to get the redtop in the chevette? radiator support & trans tunnel im guessing were issues. any other majors? what drive shaft are you using?

front of the engine sticks up quite far...fits under gemini with some webbing removed but not chevette. you could make engine mounts shorter. Radiator support we just fabricate a new frame and cut a little away here and there. Certainly no major body work, firewall etc clears fine.

An XE will go into a Chevette using spaced Manta mounts and an Opel box from a 4 cylinder VN commodore without any modification to bonnet or anything else.
Craigs motor uses some different mounts from SBD or the like along with a ford type 9 gearbox.
I'm not sure of the advantages of either setup over the other but both seem to be equally common off shore where these conversions are frequently carried out.

I'm not running with the type 9 now, we have matched the celica 5 speed as it's much stronger. But yes mounts are slightly different.

How did you adapt the W series box on to it? Custom bellhousing or a sandwich adaptor plate?

I think the Celica one is a good idea as there's some question about the T9 under hard use! Dang it, starting to get frustrated again!

I will be hanging onto the t9 as it may end up on back of 2300 which is targeted for blue 4 door.
To answer Mikuni we used an adaptor plate and other bits and bobs to get length etc right. Is running an mr2 turbo clutch now too.
