Hi there, 33 year old fom rugby, warwickshire, in the rainy old uk, just found this neat little site, so i thought i would share with you my little on going project i have recentley started, not much has happened to it so far as the weather here is crap and it keeps raining all the time..! i am keeping it as a rolling project so i can still use it from time to time to go to work etc etc, heres some pics of progress so far. The first pic just arriving home after collection. The interior is still like new and smells like it did in 1979 too..! The old spring were knackered, so it was onto ebay germany to score some lowered ones -50mm will do for now Nice n shiny red items, New ones in place The rear exhaust was rotten and full of holes, i did get a new one when i bought the car but it sounded a bit crap with the standard one, so a new one was made from a bit with a bigger bore Sound much better The end result..! it doesn't sit much lower due to old spring being worn out but it drives much nicer, the future plans are to find a suitable 5 speed box and a fast engine to sling in the engine bay, and get the rostyle wheels banded 2", it also needs a fair bit of welding at the front and a new n/s/f wing and front panel repairs. hope you like it and will update when it stops raining and i can get on with some work..! thanks.

Nice man, Lovin those Tartan Seats - Dont think I've seen/had a chevette yet with those tartan seats, but yet there seems to be heaps over there.. Man, you guys get the rust bad eh (front guard/innerguard) Looks sweet though, reckon it could do with the blackouts on the rostyles though..

I was thinking it was a sweet little beastie but, as already mentioned, it's had a bad attack of the rust monster. Get those wheels detailed and it'll be even sweeter - I think Weller Wheels may be able to sell you one piece rims to weld your rostyle centres into - a lot stronger and safer and probably not much more expensive - BTW, if you have a look around the site you'll see just how well the wide rostyles work when dropped. I presume you're already familiar with the UK site www.chevettes.com/forum/ and they can give you bunch of help and advice.

cheers guys, the wheels will get a re-paint once i have made them wider, no point doin it till then, i have tried to get blank wheels to weld my centers into but as yet have had no joy, the rusty issue looks worse than it is (i hope) a few days stripping and welding once i have sourced a few parts is all it needs, shouldn't be a problem, that chevette site seems a bit dormant, not much activity goin on there. thats what im aiming to achieve wheel wise

The opel caps are as rare as hens teeth..! e-bay germany might be worth a look if you want some that seems to be the place to get spares for them. mine has a full set of vauxhall ones on it in very good condition, these too are very rare and sell for about £30 or £40 a set over here don't know what that is in $..? i think i need to lower mine some more all the pics i see of the chevettes are much lower and make mine look like a tractor..! but its hard to locate parts easily for them.
