I thought I might start the first tech thread.
I bought this diff for a very resonable amount of $60. It was originaly bought for the rear disk conversion but I got a bit carried away and thought to myself I can make it fit. ;D I bought a LSD center out of a XF V8 Fairmont for $180 and a commodore two piece drive shaft for $90.
I took all the measurements I needed then got stuck in I've probably spent about 20 hours on it so far there's maybe another 5-10 left to finish it off.
First off I drilled the spotwelds out of the borgwarner housing and pressed the axle tubes out then cut all the original Commodore mounts off. Once that was done I cut the tubes down to length and pressed them back in . I then cut all the Gemini brackets off the gemini diff cleaned them all up by sand blasting to get all the grit and nuts off before I welded them back on. I also had to change the radius of the curve in the spring seats because the borgwarner axle tubes are fatter and they did'nt fit good enough for my likeing. Then I set the diff up in a vice nice and level and tacked the brackets all back on. The spring seats had to be at a certan agle to the pinion which I can't remember I have it somewhere After that I took it home and tryed it out fits mint I was very happy.
Next was the drive shaft I got a Commodore one because I needed a pinion flange anyway. I shortened it down to length and put the gemini gearbox yoke on. I had to flip it around so the short half was at the back not the front. I modified the original tourqe tube crossmember to mount the center bearing. It went through a few desines but I got it right in the end ;D
Next was stabiliseing the diff there are heaps of ways to do it so it was hard to decide. I still don't like the way I've done it but it's done now so meh. I simply mad up an arm that mount in the center of the diff housing on a pipe I bent up and bolts to a plate I welded to the inside of the tunnell. Works perfectly but looks hidious oh well I might end up changing it. I also used standard Commodore bushes for the arm because I hade some and rose joints are dear as hell and they cause vibration so I've been told.
I'm still to get my axles done just have to find a cheap place and the money
And here's some pics.
