For those who aren't on oldschool I thought I'd let you all know where this car went. Well, I got the car off Matt/Defcon back almost a year ago now and haven't done a lot to it really, a lot of research into megasquirt, sumps, converting 3sge to rwd etc How it sits now in last pic, just need gas for the welder and some better sized steel to make mounts. Will start off as stock with quad throttles tuned on MS, then will move onto building the engine up and paint it while its out which should give me some time to save for a few goodies ;D Moving pretty slow but doing it all myself

Nice progress man. Engine looks good in there.
How are you getting on with sump mods and the water housing and nuts that sits on the back on the head? I've seen a carina with gen 3 3s-ge in it and it looked terrible for trying to setup for a gemi/chvet

For the housing on the back I'll chop it and weld the 90 deg turn closer to the head then run the sensors along the line a bit further, I got myself a tig welder so I can do all the alloy bits ;D
Dizzy will be blocked off also, am going to run a 1uzfe VR sensor with a 60-2 wheel on the front pulley
Sump mods are going to be the harder part as I need to think more carefully about them, currently deciding whether to run the sump over the front or extend the pickup and do it at the back like the g200 was, probably need to read a bit more on that tho.
I'll get some pics when I get my gas and start cutting/welding nuts up, should only be a month or less away

I'd recommend a "big wing" sump that sits at the rear, like the manta one I'm using on the xev. Some people make their own and it seems to be a pretty simple design. It will allow the engine to sit right back in the bay and nice and low over the steering rack.

Cheers, I think your idea seems to be the best option, the 3s is so much shorter than the ol' g200 too so the front of the block is pretty much right over the steering rack
the 3rd gen engine has a stock windage plate and oil squirters too which is pretty cool!
