Oh gutted. Did you miss those days because of the weather? nah i was helpn sam all day saturday and today i had to go buy and do heaps of nuts in preparation for starting school next monday. And yeah the rain has made for really slow work. Cant really work at night because its outside and it seems to rain all night at the moment anyway haha ohwell. Measured up my gearbox crossmember stuff just before. Theres a huge difference between the chevette and the gemini mounts. Lookn at welding two bits of angle iron onto a cut down gemini cross member and bolting each of those onto the chevette crossmember bolt holes. Thats how ive seen rota shops convert the automatic FC's to manual and an rx7 box is alot heavier than a gemini one... went and investigated the park over the road for some angle iron. Could either cut a section out of one of the rubbish bins or grab one of the warratahs off the cricket pitch but i dont need to do that because i found a really good bit of framing made out of angle iron in my shed Not to sure what im going to do for a radiator!! theres no Barry Whiteing space. Will have to cut alot of chevette nuts out. Also not sure if i should use the little chevette one or cut heaps more metal and use the gemini one. Meh ill worry about that latter. so yeah idono what the Barry White aye haha West: yeah i dont think my neighbours are too fond of me aye! haha i dont care tho. Im doing my flying nuts at ardmore flying school. Spent all my cash today but my bonnets met reserve on trademe and that closes tomorrow. Thats the money i need for the nats.

When we did a nutsty one for my isuzu twincam we went onto the chevette mounts, the gearbox xmember and the floor bolts so we didn't need to strengthen anything. It was an 'H' shape. It looked arse but it was strong, cheap and easy.

With the chevette, you'll have to enlarge the radiator area to fit the radiator in without fouling the front of the engine.. Some say to do that you'll lose the bonnet catch, thats the case on the old car, but the new one I've got has just cut all the sheet metal and put some small angle iron vertically to mount to , abeit recessed alot..
Cheers,Chris

Ah, pilots licence, I was thinking of engineering. Don't worry too much about the math's, there shouldn't be too much apart from navigation and fuel range/loadings.

Could recess the chevette one but its probably too small anyway? what do you guys think? do you have any pics of yours cul8r? Gordo: yeah i was wondering what you were on about aye! haha

I'll grab a picture of mine tonight tom if you want. On my first attempt I chopped away the bonnet latch etc and ran pins because I thought you had to but this time around I'mm running a recored torana? radiator, slightly recessed into that space with those mounts/flaps cut off so it goes in better. It works pretty well.
I guess at this stage you will be doing whatever is easiest put I would stray away from cutting the radiator support panel/bonnet latch panel if you can because there is quite alot of strength in that section.

Front of Chris' hatch. Looks a little rangi, but it's faily strong, with some paint and ducting made up it'd be alright .

cheers man. That looks pretty sweet aye. What radiator was that car runing? would probably be better if i kept my bonnet catch like that but meh, im not too worried. Might give the front end a bit more stength if that metal on the top is left in..idono
