I bought a laptop on Sunday only to find it don't have the 9pin serial plug I need for the ecu. I will have to get an adapter or different cord but I'm to busy to get to the shops during the week now . If you don't already KNOW it is a standard RS232 9 pin D-sub extension cable, CHECK! Some, like my MBE system, use the standard interface hardware but are wired differently - if so, using the wrong cable can fry the ECU and/or the PC. Nice work, BTW, really like the metal work on the induction side of things.

Thanks Ive had it conected to my desktop pc with the cable you described just assumed every computer would have the plug for it meh never mind. I have bought a 9 pin serial to usb adapter cable off trade me should be here by friday.
I have given it a base tune which I did when I first started it it just takes the engine's estimated power and torque injector flow rates displacement of the engine and the redline to make a map. Its running ok there is defiantly stuff that needs tuneing like warm up its pretty kaka for the first few minutes.

Was driving around last night trying to get as many k's as I can. After about an hour it developed a serious lean miss! I nannied it home fist thing I checked was fuel pressure and it was only 15psi I adjusted it back up I'm thinking the pump might be on the was out. Its an external pump out of a 13b turbo Luce quite a good pump. I have a VL-turbo one which I was going to use when I eventually do a surge tank but I might have to look into it a little sooner.

Yeah man... a surge tank will cost you next to nothing to build, I'd do it just to be on the safe side.
Are you gonna do your diff conversion before you get your certs or what?

Ha my fuel pressure prob turned out to be my fuel gauge reading wrong 1/4 of a tank is nearly empty and the pump was sucking the odd air bubble. I was gunna do the diff next then widen some steels then cert it all but my problems have got a lot worse since the fuel pressure in fact I dont want to talk about it LoL

Hopefully nothing too major with the engine!

Engine is mint cant wait till its running more boost and is tuned properly< thats were the problem is I had an issue with charge light staying on. While testing the alt I had a wee short like a pooftenth of a second and it damaged the ecu!! The injectors are wide open 100% of the time now. I have talked to some electronics guru's I know they suggest that I get fuses for the ecu's earth because thats where the power spike got through because I have 2 5amp and 1 2amp on the positive side. But not to worry if I cant source some info on whats gone wrong by the weekend I'm ordering the latest msII from the US. Got the quote from DIY Auto tune today also all the importing tax's/duty that I will have to pay from customs it should work out to about $750nzd. I'm feeling a lot better about than I have in the last few days only just done 100ks Ha found a like 20mm hose bung on the throttle body I forgot to blank off was leaking boost the whole time I thought it sounded like the bov wasn't sealing properly lol.

So you need to get a new ECU? Or are you just getting the new MS because you want it?

Well I would love a MsII but if this one can be fixed I'll go with that because I need to watch my funds if I want everything done. I will be buying one asap if I cant fix it the cars still got 5mnth wof and reg and only done 100ks on the rebuild so there's no way I'm leaving it sitting.

Bah going to burn this thing soon Got to cleaning the bits I rushed towards the end. Wired the pump to the ecu rather than straight to the battery . Cleaned up some lose wires in the engine bay and wired the TPS correctly because it wasn't before although it runs sweet without it. For some reason I tried to start it obviously it wont go because the ecu's not fixed yet but meh and wtf the starter's not going now wtf fix some nuts just to have something else kark out bah I'm drinking now i'm sure it helps lol Edit: and the cord I bought don't support window's Vista arrrh Barry White sake lol.

Bah, windows vista sucks! All I hear is people having trouble with it.
You're making sweet progress though and sounds like you're learning heaps along the way. Tuning megasquirts is a pretty cool little process too and can even be fun from what I have seen. You'll want to get a driver though so you can find a straight road/hill and suss it out while you're rolling.

Yay its going again ecu is repaired not 100% sure its all good though I had to flash it and re-write the firmware because it was only pulsing the injectors at crank nothing once it started. I had to do it again after about 20mins but that may have been my own fault Took it for a wee spin about 500m all seemed good turbo is 10 times louder with the bung I missed last time blanked off lol. Couldn't do much else battery was going flat because the alternator still aint working. Neither is the starter started it with a screwdriver ;D

Sweet cars going pretty good now sorted the alt problem still working on the starter. Goes real hard now for some reason like way better than before I poked the ecu. Now that my bov actually works and boost don't just go out the open bung its got the flutter n whistle which I'm not that keen on to be honest. May have to look into another brand. Got piged today let me go then I had to wait for him to leave so I could pop the bonnet to get me screwdriver into the starter ;D

Can you not just plumb back the bov? That usually quietens them down.
I still gotta plumb mine in!

Even plumb back will still be quite loud with only a pod filter but its worth a try.
