One of my Manta's is an 1.8 the other is a 2.0 some of you guys will know that the 1.8 motor and box out the Manta is needed for anyone doing a 20XE conversion in a Manta or a Chevette (long story) Anyway I am keeping the 1.8 in my Manta and doing some mods that wont rule out a 20XE conversion further down the track or me sticking the 1.8 straight in a chevette or doing a 20XE conversion. The green chevette looks good low but in my opinion its not a good idea, the gold one has original springs that have been retempered to drop the car 25mm. the gold one drove like it was on rails originally and by doing what we have done should not compromise the cars ability to handle well. go to low and the car is not good handling wise, depends on if you want "the look" or if you want to have real fun driving the car on back roads. Or use a suitable bellhousing and Ford T9 gearbox as I did. Gives a lot of aftermarket upgrade options and they're cheap. Better choice would be picking up a suitable T5 bellhousing and gearbox as it's much stronger in stock trim and a lot of gearkit, etc options as well - but $$$s Either way, you can end up with sequential dog or syncro 6 speed box - but LOTS of $$$s
